Ember Swift is a Canadian independent artist. She has been producing albums and touring nationally and internationally since 1996. She and her band have toured extensively throughout Canada and the United States and have also toured (on multiple occasions) in Australia, New Caledonia (French island in the Pacific) and China. She has released nine albums and one DVD project and continues to receive support from a loyal and consistent fan base across these many national boundaries.

Ember’s music has been used in both TV and film and she has served on several juries including the Northern Ontario Film & Music Awards as well as New York City’s OutMusic Awards. The Jer’s Vision Foundation awarded Ember Swift with the “Youth Role Model of the Year” award for 2006, specifically for her activist efforts. In March of 2007, Ember was a recipient of a Canadian Independent Music Award in Toronto for the “Best Indie Website, ’06” and was also nominated for a Toronto Independent Music Award for “Best Female Fronted Band, 2006.”

In 1997, Ember Swift launched her own record label, “Few’ll Ignite Sound” with a mandate to help her fellow artists rather than compete within the industry. Besides representing the music and career of Ember Swift, the label has resisted the typical path of signing other artists as a result of a strong ethic that artists should always maintain ownership of their art so that they can determine its direction. Few’ll Ignite Sound believes that, before an artist seeks representation, it is essential to acquire enough industry knowledge in order to understand the expertise required to attain sustainability in this industry. Thus, the decisions are always informed ones.

As an artist, Ember Swift has also been asked to present several workshops on various topics related to the independent music world in schools of all ages and at private institutions. To name a few, she served as a facilitator at the Canada Council Workshop Series entitled “On the Road” alongside of Gary Cristall, formerly of Canada Council and currently an independent music manager; she was asked to speak at the Humber College Songwriting Workshop Series in July 2007; and, she was featured in the 2006 documentary film by Montreal filmmaker Dave Cool (Stand Alone Records) called “What is Indie?”

Both Few’ll Ignite Sound and Ember Swift believe in this motto:

Ember currently resides in Beijing, China (and goes back and forth to Canada) where she is developing a new musical project and taking a break from the rigorous world of road touring. Look for a new release in the spring of 2009 under a new performance name. This new body of work will be an organic sounds and electronic blend featuring sounds from both Western and Eastern traditions.

    I love this album!!! It's certainly one of the best albums by Ember Swift and her gang of musicians. "Dirty Pulse" should come directly after "Stiltwalking" as it has a similar style and attitude. "Disarming" was a little let down, but this one will rock your socks off, you bet!!! It's funky, it's catchy as hell, it's clever and fresh!
