notes

EMA “the Elevator Project” LPCD 09/23/07 Released on Opiate Publishing.com

EMA is an experimental guitar/drums duo formed in 1994 and established under the current cognomen in late 2001.

To date, EMA has recorded 4 albums (3 EPs / 1 LP) , each with their own sound and composure. Most recently the band has released its first full length The Elevator Project on Opiate Publishing Sept 23rd 2007. The style of the new album is staying true to the bands earliest influences of 80's and earlier underground lo-fi punk/noise rock cassettes & vinyl era's (I.E. gang of four, the gun club, the velvet underground, suicidal tendencies, the beat happening, early SST bands, Am Rep artists etc. etc.) ; Every single process of production was done by the band in analog, and mastered in digital)
NOTE: This album was recorded to be listened to as an album and all digital reproductions (mp3) does not represent the actual sound of the album.

From the more hardcore barrage attack of the opening tracks "33 killer bees" & "a Song about Nothing ", to the new-wave gang of four ~ esque "Minus Silo", followed through to a close (with what may be a glimpse of future endeavors) the jazz/noisescape "Foreshadow of the is..", the Elevator Project spans several genres & showcases the bands creative versatility that defines them more than any one sound.

The song titles, and cover image make this LOOK like some kind of dark electronic ambient goth rock, but this SOUNDS something VERY INTENSE Mostly slow like Karp, Melvins, Milkmoney, Milkmine. Sometimes Noise Rock, sometimes strange - Screamsfromthegutter.com
