Great album, very lyrical that blends from slow to a high tempo. As this is their first album I hope they do not stop there and that more material is produced so I can see how they develop as artists. Overall a very good album, I just wish there were more tracks on it!

  • Ohhhhh.
    author: Gindy

Overlaps & loops itself, wheels in spirals --- while steady as any natural thing, its tremolos crest and trough like waves of glass only the band can shatter. There are miraculous sounds here. Listen!

I discovered Scott Matthew Watching Shortbus, which led me to buy the soundtrack and then Elsa Snow – a great delight !

  • WE WANT MORE
    author: Adam Wells

I am new to the Scott Matthews music scene. Having only heard the Shortbus soundtrack and now this album, I want more. This CD is a great listen. The Spencer Cobrin music is a perfect complement to the superb vocal tallents of Scott Matthews. I’m sure that if anything Scott has recorded was made available, it would most defiantly be sought after and held in the highest regard. I can only hope more soon becomes available.

  • If you like Scott Matthew at all then you'll love this CD!
    author: Johnny

This CD is melodic and Scott Matthew's voice is more than enjoyable to listen to. Out of the 50 or so CDs I already own this has become my favorite. You're missing out if you don't get this.

  • Has Anyone Noticed The Similarity In Voice To....
    author: Emilee

David Bowie? I swear, Scott sounds like a dumbed down, folky Bowie. It great stuff. Too bad hes not more well known.

  • don't let go

Don't stop here, it's all too rare and magnificent a talent to deny to the world such charming music!

  • 5 Stars, no question!!
    author: Shalana

I absolutely adore this CD, It has been back and forth between my CD player/Car Stereo ever since I received it, Scott's voice is just so amazing and different, there could be no better person he could have pair up with then Spencer Cobrin, which not to mention his music is just fantasic and I can't get enough of it! I'm really hoping for another album. hint hint..

  • Velvety vocals mesh with sad-pop overtone
    author: Anastasia

Scott's vocals/words surround like soft velvet, as Spencer's music weaves a sad, yet somehow comforting tapestry. The pair is well suited, and dare i say, make beautiful music together. this recording, in my opinion, will enhance any collection, and if you're a fan of morrissey (or any of S.M.'s previous works), its a must-have. Expect to find a new favorite song, lyrical block or tonal arrangement with each listen.

Scott Matthew is a great singer and songwriter. I discovered him on the soundtrack of the animated series Cowboy Bebop and all the other works with Yoko Kanno were great. This album is amazing too!!! You can buy it eyes closed!

  • completely awesome
    author: Josh

Scott Matthew is such a talented vocalist... I love this CD, his 'Songs to Drink and Drive By' stuff, and his Yoko Kanno works. He never gets old, and has such a unique tone. Spencer is obviously a talented musician himself, having been a part of Morissey, but he stands alone well on himself. The two of them make a great pair - and this CD is very memorable, mid-tempo rock. I seriously couldn't recommend it enough.

  • Beautiful and Emotional CD
    author: WhyteGrrrl

Spencer and Scotto made one of the most beautiful cd's Ive ever heard. To top it off, my mate Coleen got to do the artwork which sets off the music perfectly. Everyone with a heart should own this cd for it penetrates the soul!!!

  • Great emotional music!
    author: MCM

The first thing that caught me when listening to the previews (and the thing that compelled my to buy it) was the singer's voice. Very intense, much like the Tindersticks were. On later listens, it was the songs' subtle arrangements that caught my ear. This band just keeps getting better, shame that no one really knows who they are outside NY. Suggestion to any band members that may be reading this: PLEASE TOUR!

  • AMAZING
    author: musiclover

Is this CD available in the UK? It's AMAZING, Have Elva Snow got a Label? Can't even seem to get bored after repeated playings. What chance of seeing a live gig?

  • Fantastic, a must own record!
    author: Michael

The greatest, sadly unheralded, band to come out of NYC within the last ten years, at least, is back ?!! The two tracks which begin the set are previously unreleased, but I remember them fondly from witnessing this band live. The remaining six, while released some years back, have been out of print for some time. A must own record, hopelessly romantic swoonworthy pop at its finest!

  • author: Jamie

"Drinking and Driving" is one of the most decadent and delicious songs of the year. These songs exude a rising passion and are polished to a fine, high shine.

  • Unique, superb and electrifying!
    author: Motor Trader

So refreshingly different, the singers unusual and captivating voice, the fabulous music composition and the real meaning in the lyrics. Where have these guys been? it's about time this remarkable combined talent was released to the world
