It feels like Ennio Morricone playing in a sandbox while Here Come the Warm Jets plays softly on the Hi-Fi.

notes
You hold in your hand the very first release by East Ghost West Ghost. The solo artist who created the album, Rob Christiansen, is releasing it in a run of 1000 with handmade packaging, on his own label, Triumphant Elephant Triumverate Records, which has yet to commission a fancy logo.
Meant to be the Smile of its decade (wait a minute…), an entirely instrumental indiepop record, awaits you. Each song has a different approach to the intended light-hearted mood, so skip around!
Rob Christiansen was a fixture of the early 1990s (Arlington, Virginia) Teenbeat/Simple Machines Records phenomenon, playing trombone in Eggs, and drums in Grenadine with Mark Robinson and Jenny Tooomey. For the purposes of this biography, we will ignore the band, Viva Satellite, and move on to his later, New York based, bands, The Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers and Stick Insect. I also wanted to put in bold that SOCT recorded for Darla Records and 555 Recordings of Leeds, U.K.
Guest musicians on this record include avant-garde art-songstress Amy Kohn (accordion -- tracks 4, 5), Stewart Anderson and Jen Turrell of the fuzzpop sensation known as Boyracer (Anderson -- drums, tracks 2, 8; Turrell -- drums, track 8), and Jeannine Durfee (Flute – tracks 3, 6). Durfee, by the way, is the wife of the above-mentioned artist and other main member of The Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers.
While East Ghost West Ghost has never played live, and doesn’t intend to, Christiansen has kept busy lately recording, playing drums on, and sometimes even producing records by Fulton Lights (with Steve Silverstein, Andy Goldman), The Gazetteers (with Frank Boscoe, Durfee, Silverstein and Andrea McEwen), and Stick Insect (with Durfee). He recently joined up as drummer in The Shot Heard Round the World after mixing their record, and is currently recording new material, for a new record by psych-folk legend, Bridget St. John.
Did you know Rob Christiansen recorded the first two LaBradford records?
When East Ghost West Ghost is not deliberately screwing with other people’s music, he does it inadvertently – as an Engineer for Selected Shorts on National Public Radio and at the audio board for WNYC-based music programs, Spinning on Air, and Soundcheck. He’s currently collaborating on sound design/scoring projects with choreographer, Mollie O’Brien and film-maker, Christian Bruno.
