WHAT SOME FANS ARE ALREADY SAYING ABOUT
"ANOTHER KIND OF FIRE"...
I really felt the need to write you and tell you how absolutely wonderful I think the new record is. The production is gorgeous, the songs are some of the strongest you've ever written and the performances are incredible. Since receiving it last night it really hasn't left the CD player...it's truly a work of art...

It is FANTASTIC. So gorgeous and rich. Your songs are like little perfect short stories.
-LK (Yarmouth, ME)
It's such a complete perfect package - everything flows and fits and maybe
we're reading too much into it, but it's like it tells a complete story, and I love that it all leads to 'what love looks like'... It's kind of a problem because I've been listening to it so much and I feel the need to be attentive to it each time that it can become hazardous if I'm, for example, driving, or supposed to be working.

I received my copies of the new album yesterday, listened to it immediately, and had to write to tell you that I think it's brilliant. Mature. Thoughtful. Musically interesting. And, as always...incredibly moving and evocative.

Just wanted to say THANKS for the new album! We just got it today and have listened to it non stop...I think we will drive our 16 year old son crazy...but hey we get stuck listening to his music at times too...

Got my advance copy of Another Kind of Fire a few days ago and have listened straight through three or four times so far. Im SO enjoying getting to know these new songs! Its like I suddenly have all these brand new friends, and Im having them over for a party at my house. Heres how the partys progressing: Hollywood Ending and Another Kind of Fire are the big personalities initially, dancing up a storm in my living room in their sequined dresses and sparkly tiaras. My Heart and What Love Looks Like are making out in the corner. I can tell by watching them they know love much better than I do, and I can learn lots from them. The Night pulled me into the bathroom and shut the door behind, to give me a much-needed talking to and some sage advice. The other songs, at this point, are deep and lovely, although speaking more quietly, knowing that soon Ill love them, when we get to know each other, when theyre in my blood. (Without a Fight has been winking at me all night. What is she trying to say?)

On her fourth studio album, Another Kind of Fire, Boston-based folk-pop singer-songwriter Edie Carey explores the myriad kinds of "fire" - romantic and otherwise - that keep us burning below the surface: old resentments, creativity, anger, lost friendships, lust, and, of course, love.
The disc, due out September 19th independently on Accidental Poet, maintains much of the organic, woody sound of its predecessor, When I Was Made (2004), touted by Harp Magazine as "a little country, a little adult-contemporary, and a lot of fine music." But on her latest effort, producer Crit Harmon (Martin Sexton, Lori McKenna, Mary Gauthier) introduces a somewhat moodier, darker sound, painting haunting, vast landscapes behind her intimate vocals.
Drawn from her own experiences and the stories of those around her, Carey's poetic lyrics are the focal point of her songs. Paste Magazine confirms this in a 2004 review of Made:"Economic instrumentation forces all your attention
