notes

Beryl sings. It's melancholy. It's crystalline.

Brooke does things with guitars. It's like ink smearing.

Will hits drums. And keyboards. The underneath stuff.

Brooke and Will have the same Mom and Dad.

Beryl's Mom and Dad are from Turkey.

They're all together in Philadelphia.

They make dreamy songs together.

  • Reminds me why Rock is great.

I was in Philly in Feb. for the World Cafe's BeerFest. Needing something to do that Friday, a bud said check out Northstar Bar...Home Video was playing that night, but it was East Hundred - debuting Copper Street Performer - who stole the show. Hope to catch them in D.C. soon!

  • My favorite CD by an unsigned band
    author: Nathan

I love supporting unsigned/indie artists, and of all the CDs by unsigned bands I've gotten, this EP is my favorite. The musicianship and quality of the recording are both impeccable.

  • Can't get any better.

This cd is amazing from beginning to end. I knew of easthundred well before I bought their self titled but now that I have it I regret waiting so long. The band does a wonderful job mixing their modern electronic sound with their melancholic bass and guitar riffs. The voice intertwined with all the music gives the whole work a siren-like atmosphere. The only downside is that it's so brief. Nonetheless, I can't wait for more stuff from Easthundred.

  • Euro-Mellow

Its really melodic and their sound is quite interesting. Its mostly soft and smooth, but also has its more faster paced songs. Its not shab :)

  • This is how it's done....

You would never guess that the two guys in this band, Will & Brooke, used to rock out playing live hip-hop before crossing paths with this talented songstress. At times, Beryl's sultry vocals remind me of Shirley Manson (Garbage), but the girl definitely has a sound that is all her own. Sort of haunting and raw at the same time. The music production sounds top notch, and it's clear from the compositions that we've only touched the proverbial tip of their musical iceberg. I love that the poetic lyrics flow seamlessly with the electronic sound that has just enough edge to keep it from blending in with the music from other artists in thie genre. But then again - there's never been a group like this one so they could never just "blend in." And that's probably why I can't stop listening to the album. Favorite tracks: Leave It, Acquaint (but the whole darned album is good. REALLY good.)

  • fresh and inspiring sound, I love this CD!
    author: John Conley

East Hundred's debut is a perfect mix of melody and ambiance, organic and electronic, melancholy and euphoria. I was not only delightfully surprised by each song but the album as a whole. It takes you somewhere, from the dark and driving "Leave It" to the warm and intimate "Current Company". Beryl's velvety vocals float effortlessly over each well crafted composition. I found myself wondering, "If this is only their debut, what could possibly be next?!"

  • Moody, melodic, and your money's worth
    author: Marc

It was a complete accident that I stumbled upon this band, and what a happy accident it was. East Hundred is a true example of how good music doesn't need to be manufactured by a major record label. The musicians in this group are truly talented and I look forward to more music from them. Fans of Denali-style songs will feel at home with this disc. Overall a very impressive debut with the high points being "Acquaint" and "Numbers." Don't pass on East Hundred; worth every penny and then some.
