notes
Dereck.W.Rose was born in Jamaica and came to England at a very early age. He bought his first guitar at the age of 16, then he began playing in the church which his family attended. Rose is a self-taught musician & Guitarist who came from a very musical family. Although he didn't really start playing classical guitar until he was 19, he was already able to read music, and played the trumpet and had a classical trio with his two sisters, who played clarinet and flute.
Rose is also an accomplished singer and songwriter, who played with a number of different bands and musicians.
He lived in Switzerland for some years at which time he travelled extensively throughout Europe and Scandinavia, playing in clubs and different military bases in Germany.
He returned to England for a few years, and then went to live in the Holy Land, where he quickly established himself with the biggest reggae band in Israel.
"Of all the composers on this album it is "ANTON LOGY" who has given me the regal ear of inspiration that I can raelly appreciate all the other great composers even though it was Fernando Sor's music that first inspired me.
Everytime I play Count Logy's music I imagine him sitting in his castle playing his lute, and then I think of that beautiful ancient sound resonating within those stony walls.
I took my guitar and music books on top of the Mount of Olives, and down into the Judean and Sinai deserts to practice these pieces of music which are on this album.
This is just a debut and there are many more beautiful works to come...But in the meanwhile enjoy this one...."
