Album Notes

David Wayne Mathias David Wayne Mathias was born on August 7th, 1974 in Silvis, Illinois. He was raised in a small rural town called Cleveland, Illinois. He possesses an Associates degree in Electronics and is presently employed at Williams White and Company in Moline, Illinois as a electrical enginer. He resides in Geneseo, Illinois with his wife and two children. David developed a passionate interest in guitar when he was 12 years old. While growing up, he still recalls country songs playing on the radio throughout the house. He has been performing and writing country music since the early 90's. In the late 90's, a vocal contest would start his career in the right direction. After finishing first place he was directed to a local recording studio. The engineer showed interest in David's writing abilities and offered to produce his debut album "Anywhere", which was released in October of 2001. While USA Network was announcing the birth of "Nashville Star", a friend insisted that David should audition for the show. After making numerous trips to cities such as Chicago and St. Louis, he was noted as a final qualifier in both cities. Choosing to represent The Bull Radio in the St. Louis area, he was off to Kansas City, Missouri to compete in the regional competition. David finished in the top 48 out of over 8,000 entries. In the year of 2003, the band "Dave Mathias and The Outlaws" took southeast Iowa by storm. Within the first nine months, they would perform such venues as Ragbrai, Midwest Old Threshers Reunion, Sweet Corn Festival, and many others. Even though the bands fan base was building, David was forced to make the decision to follow his dream to record in Nashville when he received the offer of a lifetime from a Nashville senior songwriter in early 2004. After a seven month wait, the album "I Found A New Love" was released on August 14th, 2004. The release was produced by J. Gary Smith, John "Pap" McCollum, and David Wayne Mathias. The ten song compilation bears two songs co-written by David which include, "You Complete Me" and "Garden of Stone". The attention of this Nashville produced album resulted in the signing of a management contract with Nelson Larkin and John "Pap" McCollum and also a producer agreement with Nelson Larkin. Nelson Larkin owns and operates Sunbird Records in Nashville, Tennessee and has produced such artists as Toby Keith, Neal McCoy, and Earl Thomas Conley. John "Pap" McCollum has been a songwriter for EMI Publishing as well as Zomba Music Publishing in Nashville, Tennessee for 11 years. He has had cuts released by major artists such as John Michael Montgomery and Toby Keith. The new David Wayne Mathias release that will be produced by Nelson Larkin will be primarily used to pitch to major labels. True country music. A great independent album.

I Found A New Love is the follow-up to David Wayne Mathias'first album Anywhere and shows considerable growth while maintaining his style - which seems to be true country music. A great independent album. Track by Track Review: 1. Love's A 50/50 Proposition - A catchy, upbeat song about the partnership that relationships are supposed to be about. Very nice track. 2. You Complete Me - A more traditional love song, that steers clear of the usual cliché rhymes. Well-written and well-performed. 3. Heaven Sent Me You - With the classic sound of an early 80's country song, David delivers a wonderful country song on par with country's greatest storytellers. Fantastic. 4. Hurt A Little - Some of my favorite songs come from the "Circle of Life" song mold, where the listener is presented with a life-long view of the song's subject character. Hurt A Little is an above-average track from that mold. Not destined to be a hit, but an enjoyable album cut. 5. I Just Want To Be Me - Mathias ki
