notes

Pop Punk Princess Siobhan DuVall has released her first full length album, "STAR". Produced by Vincent Jones, the album features Siobhan's signature "pumped up punk rock power pop" sound, with big guitars, catchy melodies, and her rock solid rhythm section.

Siobhan, former guitarist for The Bombshells and Bif Naked, embarked on a solo career in 1998. Known for her energetic and entertaining live shows, she has consistently garnered attention from the Vancouver media, toured as an opening act for Bif Naked, and established herself as a favorite amongst the snowboarders and skateboarders in Whistler, BC after appearing on the mainstage at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival in 2000, and at the Ford/Sony Playstation Skatespace Competition in 2001.

Siobhan has been a featured performer at New Music West, appearing along side Todd Kerns and The Waifs on the Socan Songwriters Circle panel. Her "Flying Song" was chosen for NMW's "Ready For Radio' CD. Siobhan was also nominated for "Best Local Female' in the Georgia Straight Music Awards.

Siobhan has also been branching out, reprising Blondie's 'One Way or Another' for a television commercial by Circle Productions, and lending her voice to a couple of tracks on the Black Halos album "The Violent Years". Music from her album was also featured in a Whistler-produced extreme sports video.

Most recently, Siobhan has begun to venture into the US, appearing on VH-1's Top Twenty Countdown along with host Aamer Haleem while in New York, and completeing several successful US West Coast tours.

Siobhan's album "STAR" features her trademark power pop sound enhanced by the all-star musicianship of Pat Steward and Doug Elliott, both former members of the Odds, and by Sarah McLachlan bandmates Sean Ashby and Vince Jones. As well as being featured on CBC's Radiosonic show, on CFOX, and receiving national college radio airplay, "STAR" has garnered great reviews in The Vancouver Sun, The Courier, and received four out of five stars in The Province.

THE ROCK AND ROLL LIFE OF SIOBHAN DUVALL-
(A History)

Siobhan Duvall's rock life began in 1989, when, after being heavily influenced by Blondie, the Ramones and California hardcore, she formed an all girl band, the Bombshells. A colorful and rambunctious band, specializing primarily in scene stealing and non stop fun, the Bombshells gigged incessantly around Vancouver and toured the U.S., opening for such bands as Nirvana, Tad, Mudhoney, The Screaming Trees, Social Distortion, Sublime and The GooGoo Dolls. After having way too much fun and realizing that democracies don't work, the Bombshells split in 1994.

Siobhan then joined friend Bif Naked's band as guitarist, and toured Canada opening for Moist. In 1996, inspired by solo gal Bif, Siobhan decided to strike out on her own. After spending a few months locked in a room with a four track, Siobhan emerged to take on Vancouver with her own brand of power pop. Gigging under her nickname FonFon, Siobhan played a string of shows, opening for the likes of the Real McKenzies and Australian superstars Spiderbait. Siobhan also recieved a lot of attention from the local press, due to her catchy sound, energetic shows, and one infamous shiny pink dress.

In 1998, Siobhan began gigging again, this time using her own name. In a flurry of pink sequins, shows, TV appearances, a tour opening for Bif Naked, and much attention by the Vancouver media soon followed. After becoming sponsored by Mission Snowboards, and appearing on the mainstage at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival, and the Ford/Sony Playstation Skatespace Competition, Siobhan has become a darling amongst the snowboarders and skaters in Whistler BC.

Since releasing her first full-length album "Star", appearing on VH-1 while in New York, and successfully touring the US, Siobhan is now ready to charm the world with her pumped up punk rock power pop!!

As a huge fan of pop-punk, Ms. DuVall's album has been a welcome addition to my library. The guitar sound and melodies won me over immediately. I defy you to listen to the first track and not feel compelled to own it! Go ahead, I dare you!

  • Blondie by way of Halfcocked and pure FUN FUN FUN

This "Star" shines! The spirit of 80s pop-rock lives on in a modern pop-punk skin, with the end result both retro and fresh. She even covers 99 Red Balloons! Think of No Doubt minus the R&B or Tsunami Bomb minus the scariness. Ms. Duvall's singing and songwriting are sincere, silly, and instantly likable. Short playing time, but that's what "repeat" is for! No boring moments on this disc!

  • Very powerful guitar sound and smooth vocals..Keep on rockin'
