notes
From across the snowy wastelands and sunny plains of Manitoba, Canada, comes the Adventure Metal of Dream Quest! Bursting with energy and fun, hard to erase from your mind (though, why would you want to?), this is music written for the soundtrack to everyone's personal adventures!
Dream Quest is currently supporting their sensational debut album, "The Release", with the fury of a thousand angry boars! Darryl Sterdan of the Winnipeg Sun says, "the adventure begins with the galloping double-bass beats, chugging riffs, harmonized highwire solos and epic, soaring anthems of classic 80s speed metal. But lest you think you've wandered in on an Iron Maiden tribute band, [Dream Quest] eschews the testosterone aggression and pompous bluster for proggier free-wheeling arrangements, playful flourishes, and the acrobatic techno-shred prowess of Rush or Yes" (November 12, 2004). The band is also working on new material, getting ready for the next recording.
Founded in 2001 by Steve and Mark Doerksen, and Phil Janzen, the three originally performed and recorded some demos under several different names. Though show dates were few and far between in the early days, the response to the raw talent and creativity in the band was overwhelming. This encouragement prompted more writing, more shows, and - combined with the band's own insatiable love of their craft - led to the present push to get themselves out of the pond and into the ocean.
Unable to easily define their style of play using common vernacular, the band coined the term Adventure Metal. Combining blazing fast drums, mesmerising guitars, soaring melodies, and cascades of harmonies, it's catchier than speed metal, heavier than pop-punk, and more innovative than hard rock. Adventure Metal is also fun. Part of the reason Dream Quest exists is simply to make people happy, whether by over-the-top stage theatrics or by the sensations of the music itself.
Fast. Fun. Furious. If Indiana Jones, Conan the Barbarian, and a ninja wearing a jetpack joined forces, even they could not match the excitement that is Dream Quest!

Hints of punk and metal at its very best!
author: MarcDream Quest - The Release has been my best buy this year so far and I've ordered many cds. Their music is so intense, the guitars are so technically oriented, the drums are some of the craziest I've ever seen, and the vocals are very melodic. Still on the vocals, they have that punk rock feel to them and really flow well with that adventure metal style. I am looking forward to this band's new release this year!

Dream Quest Rocks My World
author: Justin HollandWell, this Album is simply remarkable. I have never heard anything like it. IT has literally been in my CD player for 5 months straight... and I listen to it every chance I get. I can't get enough of it. I think that by far, the best song on this CD is Wonder because it not only spoke to me on a christian basis but also reached me musically aswell and inspired me to pursue my christian faith. Cheers, Justin
AWESOME!!!
author: TannerI know these guys personnally because they all had roots from this summer camp i go too, They played in the band there and Steve was amazing on the drums and phils guitar and singing was and is missed. These guys are top notch! I reccommend them to everyone. I could see them at the top of the charts if they didn't grow up in Manitoba.

Classic metal ain't dead!
author: Hugh MontgomeryIt's great to hear classic melodic metal well done- as in this CD! Fast riffing and great vocals made me warm up my air guitar to join in the fest! More proof that much of the best music these days is made by indie bands, and thanks to CDBaby available to all! Mark- keep rockin' 4 the Rock, brother!
It rocks hard. Bang your head goodness.
author: Greg BrewerThis CD is great. It rocks with the best of German speed metal and proves that here in North America we can get it right. The excuse that passes for metal nowadays in the mainstream is a joke. This band is not a joke. As a 48 year old metalhead into hard/heavy/metal since 1969 and before there was a *metal* I should know the real thing when I hear it. These guys are the real thing. Cannot wait for a second release because there's already space for it in the vault.
Great energetic metal
author: Ken MartinGreat Production, tight riffing and unique vocals make Dream Quest a must have in any collection of metal CD's. The feel is rather upbeat but different from the growing number of "happy" power metal bands from Europe. Adventure metal is a most appropriate moniker. Loved listening to this and can't wait for the next relaese.
Mix os happy metal with hints of progressive,
author: Juan"The release" was called by the label like adventures metal (i'm little bit tired of this weird names in the genre in general) for me, i guess is a great mix of melodic power/speed without keyboars with hints of progressive. Production was really good for a first album, the lead singer, has an interesting voice, not really typical, i mean, is not high kind of voice like in most of power metal stuff. The music is different (not a helloween clone) cos of progressive elements that appear here and there. even some of them turn to progressive more than power, but normally not. Perhaps the most progressive songs are the ones i dislike more, not as catchy as i would prefer. Not everything is perfect in the album, sometimes i guess that with a better producction the album could be much better, kind of improvements like choirs here and there specially in the chorus, the singer must try to be stronger. is not the typical singer but sometimes seems not fortress. Hmm is hard to explain. In general the songs are pretty original, mixing speed tunes with midtempped ones, normally double bass crescendo in the chorus. great melodies lines with guitars. I tried to find something similar but is really hard to compare, probably is the best thing they did i mean, they aren't similar to any other band or album. This is my review, i'm from Spain so i hope you can excuse my english mistakes, i wrote it the best i can. :)
Great CD! Blistering, energetic power metal!
author: Nathan HessGreat riffs, catchy choruses, crunchy guitars and pounding double bass. What more could you want? Top notch CD; an incredible debut. If you like fast, powerful heavy metal, do yourself a favor and get this CD.

I enjoy listening to this CD. It is an interesting mix of progressive metal and some emo flavouring add by the vocals. The songs are up tempo and have a fun sound to them. They are well writen and flow nicely. I would recomend this CD to anyone to give it a listen. Good job guys.
What an awsome piece of organized sound!
author: Kaevin S. NightThe Release is a really enjoyable album, with awsome composition and both intelligent and truthful lyrics. My particular favorites are Anthem, Elventh Hour and Wonder. Check out the cd, it is worth it!
Great CD, one of the best I've heard in the past year. Fast metal with brillian
author: FundyOne of those choice finds that you get once in a blue moon. These 3 guys certainly know their stuff and have produced a top quality album which should sell by the thousands if there's any justice in this world....
Damn Good!
author: KeithI really like this! This is definatly a band that will appeal to both fans of metal and pop punk. As I listened to this I couldn't stop my head from bobbing up and down to every song. two thumbs up!
