The James Dower Trio has been performing for audiences in New England and New York for five years.
With a broad range of stylistic experience, James Dower (piano), Steve Skop (bass) and Mark Mahoney (drums) have assembled a CD of eight tracks featuring six original compositions.
Two classic standards from the repertoire (I Hear a Rhapsody, Night and Day) are included with all original arrangements.

Dancing in the kitchen
author: JoanneThis CD would inspire anyone to appreciate jazz. There is variety. It is fun and infectious and addictive. You can't help dancing to it. My husband and I keep twirling around the kitchen. Even my kids love it! Would definitely buy MORE from this trio!

Each member of this dynamic trio holds his own while embellishing one another. It's not often I consider the sound of a bass "beautiful", but Skop's tone is at times just that. The sound of Mahoney's refreshingly light and varied drums are brilliantly recorded here. Throughout Dower showcases his thoughtful piano arrangements. This album brings a flawless live performance of three talented jazzmen into the comfort of your own personal listening space.

James' playing is full of life as he demonstrates his unique accomplished style, occasionally reminiscent of jazz great Bill Evans. Bassist Steve Skop's playing would make any bassist strive to play harder, and Mark Mahoney's drumming is featured often with musically dynamic solos as well as just the right amount of resistance to enhance each track. Skop and Mahoney mutually compliment James extremely well, not only by their playing but in their composing as well. The highlights include Skop's D. MARIE MARIE, a rip roaring cover of Cole Porter's NIGHT AND DAY, and James' great original, VALENTINE.
