notes
Doug Spartz has more then 30 album projects to his name. This project was done for fun with several of his musical friends including Bobby Vee, Jonathan Edwards, Calvin James Johnson, Gene Jurek, Larry Suess, Rick Hollister, Ar Stevens, Steve Canavan, Denny Charnecki, Sherwin Linton, and Tony Andreason. The album ranges from cover tunes of everything from a 50's medley to the hard-driving Moon Martin tune "Rolene", with rockabilly songs "Bip Bop Boom" and "Miss Froggie" thrown into the mix. Jonathan Edwards and Doug Spartz redo the classic "Sunshine Go Away Today" with a blend of country and bluegrass.
This project is meant to be turned up loud and enjoyed for what it is...a fun trip back in time along with some of the best national and regional artists working today.

I smiled so much to hear these gems again
author: Betsy BurnamIf you're feeling down - play Retroblaster. If you're feeling great - play Retroblaster. If you're worried - play Retroblaster. I can't think of any mood Retroblaster won't improve. Doug Spartz carries several of these older rockers on the strength of his own unique voice, and makes the other fine musicians and singers sound great on the collaborations. My personal favorites on Retroblaster are the 50's Medley, 96 Tears, Walk Away Renee, Sunshine, Wild Night, and Will You Love Me Tomorrow (and I never thought I'd like any version but the original, sorry Carol!). A mutual friend said of Doug, "He's got a knack for bringing great musicians together", and Retroblaster attests to that, down to the awesome musicians and back-up singers, they all blend so the sum of this CD is much greater than its parts. No wonder Doug Spartz is keeper of the flame for the Minnesota Rock/Country Hall of Fame - great work, Doug - and Friends!

A blast from the past with a contemporary spin
author: LuAnnFor pure enjoyment, this CD can't be beat! With the help of a few friends who are stars in their own right, Spartz puts his special spin on great old classics and forgotten oldies and includes some of his own original material. You can't help but smile and sing along~
