notes
Hey, we’re back with our second CD of original tunes. Most of the songs began with Steve, who provided a melody, chords, and lyrics; then the rest of us jumped in to help craft the finished product. We’ve put a lot of heart and as much soul as we could scrape together into these recordings—hope you enjoy!
Love, then peace.

The Songs
1 Now and Then—A song about having too much history but then using it to jump-start something new.
2 Stop the Madness—We couldn’t take it anymore—and this was a couple years ago… Don’t do our love that way!
3 Whatever Makes You High—A milestone—our first tune written for Courtney to sing. Hold on tight and take a risk on love.
4 Angelina—The hardest and best part of being a dad to a daughter is watching her grow and preparing to let her go.
5 Don’t Get Me Wrong—From the beginning hook to the Vibra-Slap in the break, this song is just too much fun to play!
6 After Hours—A state of mind that everyone experiences at some point when the party’s winding down…
7 Lay It Down—Freddy got this one started with the Afro-pop lick. Remember, real love is worth slowing down for.
8 Going Through the Motions—Sometimes you need to follow the map— and when you do, it can lead you to new places.
9 The Thing Is—Every once in a while, one of our kids will come out with a gem of profundity—“the thing is real” works for us.
10 Get a Load—Sometimes the only way to be heard is to keep singing your best love song.
11 Spaghetti Song—This one goes way back!
Special thanks to Ari and Jordan for sitting in and bringing new dimensions to our sound, and also to Peter W., Seth, Mark, and Trent, for working their magic! Since our last disc, Peter and Courtney have achieved full-blown Dough-hood. The band is better for their presence. Most of all, many thanks from all the Doughboys to our families. We owe Amy, Chris, Deb, Katy, Madgie, Mary, and Nancy, and all our wonderful kids a great debt for their support in the years that we’ve been playing together—we love you each and all.

Original sound, beautiful songwriting!
author: Anna B.I saw this band live years ago and was thrilled to see this new CD come out. I love it! They have such a unique sound -- great beat, tight mix, complex and interesting arrangements and lyrics. Respect, Doughboys!
