notes
After a year of refining their music in East Village clubs Mercury Lounge and the Bitter End, Dorman recorded their debut album, When I Come to You. While the sounds on the album range from the noisy guitars favored by Steve Earle and T-Bone Burnett to the exotic sounds and harmonies of the Middle East (several songs feature authentic middle eastern percussion and intervals) the material is unified by a shared commitment to prioritize the song over any single element in it. By turns bright and driving, dark and moody, subtly spiritual, and overtly sensual, these 14 original songs are sung and played by people who believe absolutely in their music.
Band members include two Juilliard-trained musicians: Sean Dolan (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Elise Kuder (violin, organ, harmonica, backing vocals). Todd Dorman(guitars, vocals) the songs and the band arranged. Todd's also a fiction writer; his work has appeared in The Paris Review and Image Magazine, among other places. Thane Sheetz (bass, backing vocals, didgeredoo) has held more jobs than anyone else in the band, from DJ to semi-truck driver.

I think I have found my new favorite band for this year.
author: Chris Macintosh, Tollbooth.orgThe overall sound tends to be punchy and modern with slight hints of ethereal atmospheric rock thrown in for good measure...I think I have found my new favorite band for this year.
As solid a first album as you can get.

Musicians grind out entire careers without dropping a single song of the sort Do
author: Indiecrit.comWHEN I COME TO YOU is packed in with the seemingly effortless Neil Finn/Peter Case genre of intelligent songcraft that makes other songwriters fume with envy. Musicians grind out entire careers without dropping a single song of the sort that Dorman seems to toss off in bulk here...
