notes
Founded in 2002, The Doo-Dads, a kid-cool rock and roll band, is the brainchild of four well-known veterans of the Kansas City music scene-Mike Niewald (guitar/vocals), Matt Kesler (bass/vocals), Ken Lovern, (keyboard/vocals), and Joe Gose, (drums/vocals).
Before becoming parents themselves and launching The Doo-Dads, all played professionally for bands such as The Pedaljets, The Bindlestiffs, Absolute Ceiling, The L.A.Ramblers, and The Saddlemen.
Now the "dads who do music" say "family" is the top priority. With 7 children between them, ranging in ages from 4 to 14, the group balances work, play and parenting just like most dads. But these dads try NOT to take themselves too seriously. By sticking close to their kids (affectionately called "The Doo-Drops"), seeing the humor in the everyday, and making really great music, the foursome have invented a new formula for a happy life.
Turning the stereotype of "pee wee pop" upside down, the music mixes rockabilly, blues, country and high-energy rock and roll with a unique sense of humor that adults in the trenches of parenting can really appreciate. The music has a jumpin', hoppin', boppin', rockin' energy that literally moves kids. Best of all, it's music with its heart in the right place-good kid fun. As one fan, 8-year-old Beth said about The Doo-Dads, "I like how they do rock and roll and make me laugh!"
THE KANSAS CITY STAR
"In their red and white bowling shirts and blue-tinted sunglasses, The Doo-Dads look like they're having fun because they are."
FOX 4 WDAF-TV (Kansas City)

LAWRENCE JOURNAL-WORLD
