notes
I have been playing since the age of 8, inspired by geniuses such and ray charles, duke ellington, dizzy gillespie, and in the r&b side stevie wonder marvin gaye, and on and on.
I have played professionally throughout my career in the fields of blues jazz gospel latin R&B.
Early in my career I had always been excited about motion pictures sound tracks, I was always comparing the music to scenes and memorizing the feel of the moment.
This led me to start creating my own compositions.
At the age of 12 I composed my first Song called "As My Mind Wanders" which was so well received by my friends and fellow musicians that I was featured in many new groups and inspired me to arrange.
The one thing I did not have was formal music training, but God gifted me with such a vision, ear and hands that I was beyond where teachers could help.
I say all this to enlighten you to my creative moods and melodies and arrangements in my music.
Iam mostly insprired by Quincy Jones and have been told that my looks resemble a young QJones so please open your mind and soul and let take you in the music of my mind.
Thank You Donnie Mathis
