“Pioneers” is as good, in so many ways, as most of the albums released recently on big commercial labels. And it’s better because it has heart and real soul and hasn’t lost the loving touch of the artist to the cold demands of the market. This is one of the friendliest, warmest and best albums I’ve heard this year.
