Live Recordings

I'm so happy to have captured these moments on tape from our live shows to share with you. I feel grateful and fortunate to work with truly gifted artists/musicians who play with so much heart and soul. While going back and listening to all of our live recordings and putting this cd together, I was touched by so many memories of all of the places we've been to over the last three years and all of the beautiful people we met along the way. I've been inspired by the creative process of taking the songs from our cd, "bliss" and giving them to musicians to bring the music to life in a different way. When people have come up to me and said, "I have bliss and I love it," I always replied, I hope you get an opportunity to hear the music live and be a part of that experience with us. I'm so proud; what can I say.

Most of the songs were recorded at the Mint on Sept 12, 2001. It was a very emotional night for everyone. Although we were all in shock from the recent tragedy, there was a comfort in us being together as a community. We all came together as one that night and let the music take us to another place .. . closer to our hearts.

Acoustic (the Chad sessions we call them)

The acoustic recordings were done at my friend Chad Fischer's house/studio in the hills of Laurel Canyon, CA. I picked that space, because it was where my friend, Josh Clayton-Felt spent the last month of his life finishing his cd. He died of testicular cancer in January, 2000, and we recorded these songs just a couple of months after that. Josh's spirit was everywhere and I can feel it when I listen to the recordings. One of the highlights of the sessions was when my friend Haitor Pereira came in and played his romantic, classical Spanish guitar on "Te Amo" and "Please." When I listen to Te Amo with Haitor's guitar and Cameron's cello together, I'm taken to another place...standing on a beautiful island somewhere.

Where I've Never Been Remix

Anthony Resta aka Ajax is a dear friend of mine. I met him years ago through Nuno Bettencourt of the band, Extreme. For years, Anthony and I said we wanted to make music together. He's always loved this song, so it was perfect when we thought of him for doing the remix. He's a very talented writer and producer, which I'm very excited to be currently collaborating with on with my new cd . . . coming soon.

Donna and her band are such an amazing musicians, born with musicality in their blood. i like that donna did not stick to the original cd versions of her songs, that is what i expect from a live performance. and yes - the duet with niky is beyond fantastic ! thank you donna :)

This a great sounding live cd from a great preformer. Donna's voice is bliss. Women's Pride & Praying For Love are real highlights & her duet with Nikki Harris is the best. I'm a huge fan of Donna's and this cd.

  • I fell flat out in love with Donna De Lory's beutiful music!
    author: Hanne Katharina from Norway

I think the cd is very emotional, it sometimes sounds like Donna De Lory is crying on the cd. I love it. It gives me so much peace when I’m listening to the cd. And the best thing is that it is recorded live. It catches the mood so perfectly! The only one more thing that would have made this cd perfect is that the whole concert was on it, al the talking and everything.

  • I love this CD

Donna De Lory shows with this cd the strenght of her voice and her emotions. You can feel from her voice through the cd. This cd was recorded on 12th september 2001, is a felt emotions with something more. Great the duet with Niki Haris, her great workpartner on backing vocals for Madonna's live concerts from 1987.

  • Wonderful! Just wonderful!
    author: Martin

Pop is a genre that is just as valid as any other in music. Donna Delory is one of those that is actually GOOD when it comes to it. She has the talent to sustain herself in a category that at times seems to be overtaken by mediocre artists. This CD showcases her completely live and it ain't a disappointment. What you'll get is a wonderful voice with great songs! She's even able to prove that a pop song such as praying for love can be intimately deep and not just superficial. Hold me now is able to reduplicate live the great chorus that we hear on her studio album Bliss. On & on is just touching and the duet with Niki Haris on the song Please...there are no words to express how beautiful these two women's voices are especially together. Plus the fact that Please is a well written love song doesn't hurt either. This is a worthwhile live CD that will stand the test of time.

  • passionate but reserved vocal performance, not at her peak
    author: R Lee

Thoughtfully rearranged live version of various songs from Bliss LP are pure delight. While Donna totally absorbed into her songs, it is felt that her vocal held back at some points. Arrangement of songs in acoustic session are too similar to LP version which gives audiences no surprises. The album will be more consistent if it is a full-on live recordings.
