notes
Donna Rawlins, AKA Donatella, successful songwriter, vocalist and voiceover artist, has just released her new CD entitled "Under The Moon" on Oceanic Records. "Under The Moon", is an esoteric blend of sensuous, reflective vocals combined with hypnotic rhythms, electronics and acoustic guitars. Simply put, it has great grooves, insightful lyrics and beautiful, haunting melodies. The electronica style title cut was featured in the NBC daytime series, "Passions", the opening scene of the CBS mini series "And Never Let Her Go" and on two episodes of "That's Life" (CBS) and the more starkly dramatic acoustic track, "Why", was featured on the WB's hit series, "Dawson's Creek".
Six of the songs on the CD were produced and co-written by Argentinean collaborator Eliot Waldhorn of e5 Music, including the title track. Donna has also joined her creative talents with other established composer/producers, including Seth Hartman (whose songs have been featured on several episodics such as "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" & "Dawson's Creek"); Gold and Platinum award winning engineer/producer, Robert Feist, (Stevie Nicks, Belinda Carlisle, Anita Baker), owner of the Venice, California-based recording studio, RavensWork, and Platinum award winning songwriter/producer Mark Keefner (Tiffany) of Waymo Music. The track entitled "Shadows Fall" was co-written with Jan Kuehnemund of Vixen, Stacy Robin of Imaginary Friends and Donna Eveland of Drawing Down The Moon.
Although originally from Lancaster, Ohio, just prior to this recording, Donna came to Los Angeles by way of Chicago, forming the band, Trial By Fire with whom she toured internationally. Her first solo CD entitled "Imitation Gold" (featuring songs made famous by Momoe Yamaguchi) was released by Crown Records of Japan. Earlier in her songwriting career Billboard Magazine singled Donna out with awards for "She Keeps Crying" and "I Wanna Be There" from her "Who's Resisting Who" CD, co-written with and produced by Hit Musik Productions' Elliot Anders. Donna then teamed up with Stacy Robin to co-front the band Imaginary Friends.
Donna's additional film and TV performing and songwriting credits include: "Melrose Place" (Fox), the independent feature film "Turn of Faith", "Pink Nights" (New World Pictures) and "Motel Blue" (DeMartini Anderson Productions). She has also lent her voiceover talents to many commercials (May Company, Apple Computer, Buick, AT&T) as well as the recent PSA for The Paper Campaign with R.E.M. Donna is represented by the WILLIAM MORRIS AGENCY.
"Under The Moon" is available at Amazon.com, CDBABY.com, MP3.com and DonatellaMUSIC.com.
