Blazing horns blend into Dolby's irresistible electronic funk for a strange brew of synths, beats, and jazz inflections, all meshed together by the sly humor of his lyrics.

  • awesome

This album has some good interpretations of Dolby's old songs, plus a new one (hope this leads to a new album??). My only complaint is that it isn't offered on vinyl.

  • Fun stuff.

Really fun...and AAMB isn't even my fave Dolby album. I like this edited version of TKTHF (I could never get into the original o_0) and it's great being able to own a copy of the new YKHMD!! The Jazz Mafia Horns are very very good, to say nothing of Thomas Dolby's mad skillz. I only wish Airhead was on this recording as well.

  • Live Performance

I saw the performance in Toronto and this captures the moment perfectly for me. I am constantly impressed with how the music evolves and still sounds as fresh as ever. A great addition to any Dolby library.

Once again, Thomas steps up and serves up a wonderful performance! This recording is a wonderful fleshing out of some of my fav Dolbyisms backed by the Jazz Mafia Horns. I will continue to support any artist doing things on their own. Thank you, Thomas for dusting off your keybds and leaving your family to go on tour. Your fans are appreciative of your time and talent. Keep up the excellent work!

  • Dolby continues to move his catalog of songs into the future.
    author: Paul Sizer

LIVE AT SXSW shows another step in Dolby's maturation as an artist, and his willingness to toss whatever needs to be added to the pot to make his music grow and adapt is refreshing. For all the digital options he could use, it's good to hear Dolby is unafraid to let analog musicians onto his stage to add what they have to bring to the mix. A nice slice of music that fits well beside his excellent tour from last year. I'd STILL like to hear May The Cube Be With You played with a full power Parliment band, but I guess that's what dreams are for...

  • Damn, these live records are really good.

Love the updates to the older tracks, especially Hot Sauce and My Brain is Like a Sieve. Less thrilled with the new track, especially since it doesn't really take full advantage of the Jazz Mafia Horns (which I thought was the point of the EP...). That all being said, it's a terrific EP and well worth picking up.

  • worth the money and very entertaining

I love the mixture of digital and analog. The Jazz Mafia Horns definitely add spice to these songs. Plus, we get a hint as to what *might* be coming soon in "Your Karma Hit My Dogma". It's a 4-star just because I miss the butt-shakin' drums and bass for "May the Cube ...".

  • Still amazing....

Track 3..Brain is like a seive... is a fat jazz remix that features some killer horns. A must have for any Dolby fan. Really enjoyed the whole cd.

  • Smooth, Funky and Funny!

This great live EP from the 2007 gigs at Austin's SWSX truly highlights Thomas Dolby's wit, with 5 songs worth of blush- and gaffaw-worthy lyrics (ok... only the title is funny in My Brain Is Like A Sieve). 4 of these tunes are oldies-but-goodies, but we have the first NEW Dolby tune in years with Your Karma Hit My Dogma, an Eastern-influenced, dancey groove about Dolby's legal ranglings with a Mr. K-Fed. But what makes this disc so special is the addition of the Jazz Mafia Horns, whose brass arrangements add a spicy flavor to these tunes that we've known for years. Thomas Dolby's one-man-show is a fantastic treat, but I think he's really at his best when interacting with other musicians. This disc is a welcome addition to the Dolby catalogue. Beech

  • Really good stuff!

This is the coolest idea I've heard in a while. I've always liked Dolby's style, but these are a bit different. Your Karma hit my Dogma is fantastic! Check it out.
