Monte Cristo Records is an independent record label and music publisher with studios in North Bergen, New Jersey and New York City (Greenwich Village). The company was founded by David Monte Cristo and James Michaels in 1995 and has produced 10 CDs, 17 CD mixes and 3 Music DVDs.
David Monte Cristo was born in Tbilisi, Georgia on February 17, 1957. His early influences were Russian, Georgian and Middle Eastern Music, Led Zeppelin, Tom Jones, Moody Blues, Uriah Heep and The Beatles. After emigrating to the USA in 1973, his main influences have been Black Sabbath, Depeche Mode and the New Wave, Electronica, Techno and Synthpop styles. In the studio he sings, recites poetry, composes, plays keyboards, synthesizers and piano, programs sounds, drumbeats and digital effects, produces, arranges, mixes and records CDs and DVDs and shoots video.
James Michaels (aka Dr. Perpich) was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania on April 11, 1953 and grew up in nearby Cheswick. He graduated from Columbia College / Engineering with a B. A. And B. S. (Columbia's Combined Plan) . In 1984 he received his M. S. and in 1997 his Eng. Sc. D. in Mineral Engineering and Chemical Metallurgy from Columbia University. He has been living and working in New York / New Jersey for the last 25 years and has traveled extensively in the United States, Western Europe, the Former Soviet Union and the Far East as a metallurgical engineer. In the studio he plays keyboards, synthesizers and piano, produces, arranges, mixes and records CDs and DVDs and shoots video.
