The long awaited follow up to Where I Belong...

notes

Whether he is playing for a few people at a poorly advertised coffeehouse show in Chicago or playing before a packed crowd at Michigan State University, David McMillin puts everything he has into his music. Though he is not yet old enough to drink a beer, his music reflects the emotional depth of a mature songwriter.

And David is not your average songwriter. He sings with the passion of Howie Day one minute, then the calm ease of Jack Johnson another and is lyrically as capable as either of the two. He has blended his influences-that span nearly all generations and genres of music-together into a style that is truly his own.

Where I Belong, released last year, is David's first full-length release. It contains ballad-like songs such as "May Your Sun Always Rise" and "Where I Belong" that contrast songs like the edgy and aggressive acoustic jam "Legend of Jack Kerouac"-in which he demands "everybody take a step back/and take a look around." The album captures the wide span of David's music.

As David says, "My music is written from the heart for the soul." The fiery passion that he puts into each song and his intense writing and re-writing processes pay off. As a review of Where I Belong recently put, David's "songwriting is beautiful and enchanting."

David has been busy touring for a year and a half. He will be launching a Midwest headlining tour this Fall(2004), with a focus on college gigs. September 21st, he will release a four-song EP, a preview of his upcoming second album.

I'd really reccomend this CD. It's good, easy listening. It would sound really cool with some more instruments, but overall it's a really good disc. Mix of Howie Day and Ryan Adams.

  • Worth way more than 5 bucks...
    author: Liz Farrelly

The new Dave McMillin CD just proves even further how big of an artist Dave is going to be! The EP contains one of his best songs ever - Manhattan Street, which is worth the 5 dollar cost alone. The other songs show how Dave has grown as an artist and writer and leave me more impressed everytime that I listen to it...which is a lot!

i bought davids "where i belong" 2 summers ago and it was in constant rotation w/my other staple cds (indigo girls, matt wertz, dave barnes, dave mathews ect...)i loved the edgyness of his voice and with the release of his EP "between here and now" the edgyness is still there but its more refined...the lyrics and guitar riffs are awesome...i can guarentee it will be in my cd player for awhile before someone else can top it

  • the next... Howie Day, Dave Matthews
    author: Kelley Walk

He can write songs like Dave Matthews and he can sing passionately like Howie Day. What an awesome combination. Dave McMillin is going places. Manhattan Street is such an amazing song. BUY THIS CD!

  • 2 words...Jack Kerouac
    author: John Groffman

Wow. For anyone who is asking themselves, "why is Jack Kerouac on another CD?" Wow. It is like a whole different song. Especially the part after the jam that goes "There's a war outside..." This thing is sweet.

  • Sounds good

I reccomend this CD to anyone looking to hear some groovy guitar riffs mixed in with the awesome singer-songwriter thing that Dave is so good at.

  • Talk about 700 Miles...
    author: Charlie Oldham

This guy has gone far more than 700 Miles since his last album. This new EP is a huge step up for Dave. I can't believe the difference in song structure, voice, guitar, EVERYTHING! Trust me, you get your $5 worth.
