Trained in music starting at a young age, d-lushis pulls her knowledge of jazz, classical and electronic into one central base, ultimately manifesting sounds that speak of a unifying nature. She is inspired by many musical genres and artists, especially those who aspire to fulfill the need for peace and sustainablity in our world today.
Honey Bee is the latest solo project from Portland-based musician d-lushis of the band Beliss. Featuring a wide range of musical styles, Honey Bee boasts mostly original compositions by the classically and jazz trained mind of d-lushis. Desert beats, sultry lyrics, modal sax and luscious strings fill out this complex yet humble album lovingly engineered and produced by the artist herself at Cosmik Muse Rekords in Portland, Oregon. Check out tracks 1, 3, 5 and 6 for an introduction. Although, you may be pulled towards the others, these are the artist's favorites. Honey Bee is available directly from Cosmik Muse Rekords or online through d-lushis.com and CDBaby.com.

Sexy voice, hypnotic beats
author: Sara Wilkes (Independent Music Review Journal - LA)Honey Bee, by the artist d-lushis, is much more than the typical singer/songwriter album. While most of the songs do contain guitar and vocals, many of them are also set to hypnotic electronic beats (think Joni Mitchell meets Bjork.) The sultry vocals weave a harmonic web that draws you in. The lyrics are poetic and thought provoking. A few of the songs have no lyrics at all, taking you into a deep trance with free jazz and improvized electronic. The original and intricate melodies on this album are also more than you would expect from most pop artists today, which can be attributed to the fact that d-lushis came from a jazz and classical background.
