Recorded live and one take only, showcasing mountaintop highs and valley lows of Danielle's voice, and her impressive guitar work -- acoustic and electric. Cregan's fiddle and harmonies add another stratum, making for an almost indescribable sound.

notes

"This brand spanking new record is like taking a deep breath of pure oxygen. Danielle Tibedo and Cregan Montague are really onto something here. 'In the meantime...,' recorded live in one take, is a testament to what is and will become of this duo.

"Tibedo and Montague, both owners of cats named Maggee (pronounced MAGGIE), met a few years back in Boston. When they started playing music together their fate was sealed. In 2002 they put out the 7-song EP, 'Way back when...' In the here and now, however, they had songs boiling over, begging to be released: 'In the  meantime...'

"If this record is any indication of what's to come, then run, don't walk to your local record store to find it [but since you're here, just click to buy it now!] . 'In the meantime...' contains nine songs, and you'll love at least seven of them. All of them showcase the mountaintop highs and valley lows of Danielle Tibedo's voice, while she lays down impressive guitar work--both acoustic and electric. The violin and harmonies of Cregan Montague add another stratum, making for an almost indescribable sound.

"'In the meantime...,' put out by the DM's own SingLove Productions, Inc. is distinctively magical. It strikes a chord that will stop you in your tracks with a force all it's own."

  • Angels Sing, Fiddle & Strings! DMs 1 of My Favorite Things!
    author: Carrie Taylor

I was hooked before I received this cd because I saw these ladies live! They really are a breath of pure fresh air and soothing to listen to. They bring so much to the mix, seamless harmonies, great musicianship and an almost spiritual or "divine" quietness that cannot be described. Every song is a gem, from the striking violin intro to the hushed vocals that end this cd. These two were born to play together and it shows. "Black Fire Remedy" and "War" and only some of my favorite Divine Maggees tunes. The more I hear, the harder it is to pick a favorite among them. I am waiting anxiously for their next offering as I will be the first in line to purchase it.

  • This is a great CD and an awesome band!!!

  • I could die happy listening to them sing.

(partial review--click on above to read full article) Danielle Tibedo and Cregan Montague, the mystic sirens of Divine Maggees, stole my heart. Captured it. Right out of me. I saw the CD cover and thought, “oh, a female folk duo...they probably sound like the Indigo Girls.” I’m lucky a bolt of lightening didn’t incinerate me on the spot for such blasphemy... The opening song, “Life Me Up,” sails in on a gust of wind originating from Celtic lands. The strong, beautifully tangled voices sound like high priestesses calling spirits forth in a pagan ritual. The mournful, mysterious fiddle croons along. It’s enough to make me shiver... As a reviewer, it’s electrifying to find music that I can’t compare to any other artist. Divine Maggees are absolutely hypnotic, and I’m almost afraid of getting the opportunity to see them perform live. I’m afraid I’d get carried away and give them all my worldly possessions and devote my life to following them everywhere. I might as well. They already have my heart.

  • deeply moving music and lyrics that echo in your head and heart

seduction of the soul! deeply moving music and lyrics that echo in your head and your heart. can you resist the lure of a cd that begs to be listened to over and over again? the artists individual voices find a harmonic balance that both supports each of them yet enhances their indiviual gifts. this is the best cd i have heard in years!

  • will stop you in your tracks with a force all its own

Over the past week and a half I have found myself hearing voices and sounds in my head. It’s all good though, what I’ve been hearing is the music of The Divine Maggees. The rogue lyric or a few notes of violin will filter through my thoughts randomly. It’s not like I’ve listened to their new record In the Meantime a million times. I think I am on about listen number seven and already some of the songs are etched into my memory. This is what it’s all about after all. Music at its best can be a passport into another’s mind that soon seeps into your own consciousness and just makes sense. The Divine Maggees, from Rockland, bring a distinct mood to the surface—one of passion that draws you close in its embrace. This brand spanking new record is like taking a deep breath of pure oxygen. Danielle Tibedo and Cregan Montague are really onto something here. In the Meantime, recorded live in one take, is a testament to what is and will become of this duo. The lyric “Brother, my dear brother, you’re a fool for thinking anger is your truth,” from the album’s second track, “The Brother Song,” has been repeating in my mind. Other times it’s the beautiful, melancholy violin that can be found in the next song “White.” continued...
