Disciples of Loud
"Let the Beatings Begin"

A brutally smoldering July 2002 morning, inhumane early, a couple or three security checks requiring ditching the oh so valuable $5 cups of coffee every single time. End of ferocious Texas shows allowing only hour nap. Reclined at gate, Jason and the Scorchers' wildman guitar virtuoso Warner Hodges, the man capable on stage of careening out-of-control while still playing with incinerating flash and precision, unexpectedly proclaims, "we shouldn't be on our way home, shouldn't we be on our way to Louisiana, Georgia, somewhere else?" So it begins. After years of denial and prodding from colleagues, friends, family and fans, he decides it's time. Time to do what he was born to do, do what his hands were made to do, do what he innately has to do and do it hard, fast and loud.

Warner asks Scorchers' bassist Kenny Ames if he's interested, a more redundant question perhaps never broached. A mere discussion and a couple weeks later Kenny suggests Warner go with him to check out this 'unbelievable' drummer. Unbelievable understating the slamming thunder of drummer Matt Green. Perfect, hard, fast and loud.

Though mesmerized by the veracity of the man behind the kit, Warner is struck by another force, a familiar cyclonic element, Todd Austin, lead guitar-could be a vigorous challenge-umh. . . . Hard, fast and loud. The birth of Disciples of Loud, Warner Hodges: lead vocals, guitar. Todd Austin: guitar, background vocals. Kenny Ames: Bass. Matt Green: Drums. Instant Chemistry, Cranking Rock'n'Roll, Hard, Fast, Raucous, Loud.

The Disciples of Loud, "Let the Beatings Begin", the name and title fairly well describes it all.

CAUTION: Listening to this CD at appropriate volume while driving has proved to result in speeding tickets.

Greatness in the rough is still greatness. I am very impressed with track 10, "When Mercy Calls". The synthisis of Blues, Metal and traditional country is interesting and provocative. Great Musicianship. Well Done!

Warner Hodges has always been in the pantheon and Kenny Ames is a long time resident too but now I can add two more names to my Olympus address book: Matt Green and Todd Austin. Uh-Huh!

I heard about this band while listening to a talk radio program and I decided to check it out. Man, I am glad that I did. As soon as I heard the beginning of Uh-Huh, I knew I wasn't going to be able to crank it loud enough. Great CD. Buy it and take your beating... it's good for ya'.

    author: Great Balls-O-Fire

Just when I'm about to give up on music, DOL has saved it. This is the real friggin' deal. If you don't get your butt up with this CD then you need some shock therapy. Put the CD in your player...crank it to 10 and stand on your front porch with your favorite cocktail.

  • AC/DC with a Nashville twist
    author: Johnny D.

I've been listening to rock music for 30 years, and if you're a fan of hard rock, it don't get no better than this!!

  • absolutely the deal. warner is the last real rocker
    author: tim kellogg

Transcendent guitar rock that is simultaneously muscular, melodic and meaningful is getting as rare as personal honor. Warner has suffered in many ways to stay true to the Rock ethic and apparently does not regret it. This is honest and honorable art that makes no compromises in search of giving guitar connoisseurs the magic we thought was gone. Buy this CD now! I felt priveleged to be able support the greatest music I know. We are all eagerly awaiting a new CD and a tour!

  • The best Ive heard in a long time.

  • The beatings have ensued
    author: Billy Jackson

This is truly a great CD. In your face, straight ahead rock and roll is harder and harder to find these days. Not with this band however. Agressive, punchy rock played with absolute precision. All with a toe-tappin beat. Whoever said it may cause you to get speeding tickets hit the nail on the head. Don't play this in your car unless you intend to drive really fast! This album is the best of Kiss, AC/DC and BuckCherry thrown in a blender with their own twist and the end result is a great rock and roll smoothie.

  • Fantastic
    author: Paul Russam

I was looking for a band to book for my wedding in July here in the UK so I typed Loud Rock Band into Google and found this by accident. I have been a fan of Jason and the Scorchers for many years but really I am a die hard Status Quo AC/DC Georgia Satellites Fan. This CD just blew me away. Great production and very LOUD guitars. Good to hear that there is someone out there still doing it like it should be done. Good old fashioned LOUD Rock and Roll.

  • Greatest Rock Record In A Long Time
    author: Johnny B.

This CD is the real deal. If you're a true rocker, play this one LOUD and often. These guys live up to their name and deliver with great songs as well. They have something to say...Blackmore,Richards,Young,etc. should watch out for Hodges and Austin. And Ames and Green deliver as well. Thank God for this band!

    author: Thermo

Yes I like this CD so much! This rock n roll CD makes me real happy. It kicks me to mars. I like 8 from 10 songs from this CD very much. The songs Uh-Huh, Wind me up and TICK TOCK really rockin. Also I like very much the easy rockin' guitar riff from the song I'm your man, great! The ballade You must give me something is a good one, too. The other songs also real rock n' roll! This CD is a highlight in my CD-Collection.

  • author: cam traviss

There is not a dog on this CD. Thank God this type of music is not entirely gone. Muscular, melodic hard rock. You Must Give Me Something is worth the CD price alone. A great guitar feast from the incomparable Warner Hodges and a stellar crew of supporting rockers. Buy this CD immediately!

  • Turn it up...
    author: Jennifer

Straight forward, in-your-face, pin-your-ears back, hard drivin' rock and roll from the man that puts the "scorch" into Scorchers. Rock on Warner!

  • Good For Scorchers Fans
    author: Victor Gann

If you are a fan of Jason & The Scorchers or just good down home, foot stomping, blues based, fist and boot in your face rock...then this cd is for you. Warner fails to disapoint in his playing and you hear the honesty in his voice.

  • Damn fine CD
    author: kel

Thoroughly enjoyable romp into doppio rock; the kind of album that forcibly reminds you that "trad" doesn't have to mean tired. A very interesting mingling of talents and directions -- definitely a unique sound, with WEH pizzazz clearly evident, but only one of its many appeals. Tremendous fun: play *loud* on repeat.
