Vintage Dirty Looks sound, big guitars, slammin'drums, ripping vocals. This is the rock record you've been waiting for.

notes

Dirty Looks returns with "Superdeluxe" the greasiest rock record to hit the street since the infamous "Cool From The Wire" and its follow-up "Turn of the Screw". Superdeluxe reunites the original line-up of Henrik Ostergaard, vocals/guitar, Paul Lidel, guitar, Jack Pyers, bass, with the addition of Jeremy Hummel on drums.
Superdeluxe is full of that vintage Dirty Looks sound to satisfy all the diehard fans and forge ground with a whole new generation. Henrik's vocal performance screams with raw emotion, that if possible, exceeds all of his previous performances leaving no doubt this guy is at the top of his game and possibly one of the best balls out singers there is. Enough said.

Dirty Looks was formed in 1985 in the San Francisco bay area. After independently releasing an EP on Sticky Records and opening shows for several national acts, they found themselves with a management/production deal. The band hit the studio and recorded their first full length, self-titled album which was released on the French label, Axe Killer Records. Although they were getting nominal airplay on San Francisco's largest radio stations, the band broke up and reformed in Harrisburg, PA. In 1986, they released their second full length album, INYOURFACE, on Mirror Records while simultaneously releasing I Want More on Axe Killer. The song Oh, Ruby, from INYOURFACE, began to receive airplay from Z-ROCK (a massive rock station in Dallas, TX) and its affiliates. Requests poured in for the song and major labels such as EMI, Electra, Chrysalis, and Atlantic came calling. In 1987 the band signed to Atlantic Records and EMI Publishing and released their first major label album, Cool From The Wire in 1988. Produced by Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Lynch Mob), it is still regarded by many as one of the best hard rock albums of its time. Twenty years later, Cool From The Wire continues to sell online and in record stores all across the globe. (So, if this CD has yet to be added to your collection, you can click here to purchase it from Amazon.com). After an extensive (and successful) international tour, the band was ready to get back in the studio and start recording their follow up. The President of Atlantic Records and the higher-ups of their new management team Hard To Handle (AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Emerson Lake and Palmer) thought that it would benefit the band if they hired a producer who had current albums on the Billboard charts. Beau Hill (Ratt, Warrant, Winger) was hired to record the album but the band felt that he wasn't capturing the street sound that they were looking for. The Hill sessions were scrapped and John Jansen (Britny Fox, Faster Pussycat, Cinderella) was brought in to produce Turn Of The Screw, which was released in 1989. After the album dropped, the band hit the road on another vigorous tour. In 1991, while they were out supporting Turn Of The Screw, the band released an album of b-sides, Bootlegs, on Roadrunner Records. It was also around this time that the band hooked up with the infamous David Krebs (Aerosmith, Scorpions, Def Lepperd) who offered them a lucrative production deal. With the powerful Krebs on their side, the band went back into the studio with Max Norman and recorded Five Easy Pieces in 1992, which was their first release on their new label, Sony/Columbia. The album sold well and warranted a fourth major label release, Chewing On The Bit, which Max Norman also had his hands on. The album dropped in 1994 and the band found themselves back out on the road. During that same year, they released One Bad Leg, their third release on the Sony/Columbia label.

Awsome, They have not lost a step, I have everything from Henrik I could find, (Rumbledog / Slave 2 Machine / Etc.) Bak in da late 80's there was a stop sign in Waterford PA. someone had slapped a Dirty Looks sticker across. Then I started hearing them on the Z-Rock Sat.Stations, and I was hooked. Get SuperDelux, I will be telling several of the hed bangers I used to run with the good news, Thanks Henrik, Paul, Jack, and Jeremy 4 making this kick ass rock.!!!

  • Dirty Looks back in action!!
    author: scott wade

I received Super deluxe and was turned on right away. Yes, The classics are still great, but I knew The boys wouldn't let me down. Big guitars, raw vocals with balls, thats what I want to hear. I give it a thumbs up. I happy just to see that bands are keeping it real, something lost today in the music scene. Scott/WWW.POWER2DRUMS.COM

Henrik and the boys are BACK with a vengeance! Not much room for improvement with the unmistakable vocals and awesome guitar work. For us that hunger for the kick-ass crunching rock and roll that we grew up with, look no further. Now let's get a tour goin!

  • author: Jack Gibbins

I'd really give this maybe 3.5 stars, but since I can't I'd rather over score, than under. Not as good as the classic first few, but at least as good as the rest. Much better production than Gasoline anyway - makes me wonder about that disc, esp. considering how soon Superdeluxe came out after Gasoline. Anyhow, if you're a fan you should definitely get it, but if you don't love the first few this won't change your mind.

LOVE IT! We can't wait for tour dates. It is GREAT!

  • Didn't Bring Me Down
    author: Kevin Rose

Vocals are outstanding, Guitars and musicianship are excellent. I can't believe this is an indie. My favorites are the heavy songs like "Bring Me Down", "A Million Miles", "Dead Movie Star" and "Not Enough". This is a must have cd. You will not be disappointed!! Limited Indie release and a Future collectors item for sure.

  • Back even better than ever!
    author: George J. Hlodash Jr.

Lightning strikes twice!!! "Superdeluxe" is just that and it even surpasses the excellent Gasoline. Henrik is in top form and sounds even better than back in the day. The whole band is top notch on this and the production is huge. Thanks for coming back on the secene. Now how about a Pennsylvania tour?

  • Henrik Does It Again!!!!!
    author: Tracy Wiscount

It's great to see Henrik back behind the wheel of his legendary Super Deluxe band "Dirty Looks". This cd sound fits right in with all the great cds he has put out in the past and keeps the 80's feel but makes it fresher. I highly recommend this or any Dirty Looks cd to any and all metal or rock fans. Henrick kicks some serious a**!!!

  • Dirty Looks rocks again on Superdeluxe!!!
    author: Danny Barrett

Dirty Looks are back after a very short hiatus to rock out again on Superdeluxe!! This album picks up where Gasoline ended, with Henrik still wailing out with his distinctive howl and the rip roarin' of the guitars with which we all came to love in the Dirty Looks format of rock!!!! Definitly a must have for any Dirty Looks fan, but also any rock'n'roll fan!!!!!! Keep rockin' and never stop!!!!!!!!!
