notes

"...they call themselves the dirty damn kings!"

DIRTY KINGS formed in Los Angeles in January 2003!
B.B. COX on Vocals/Bass, MOFO DANIELS on Guitar & CB CHARILE on Drums. DK’s kick off 2006 with the release of ELECTRIC DIRT and new drummer JOHNNY SMITH!
DK’s continue to blend several influences with respect to their Kentucky, Mississippi & Pennsylvania roots.
Many gigs, recording sessions and cocktails have led to playing unapologetically straight forward rock, with just a twist of glam & punk attitude…but it’s their love for old blues, country and R & B that keep them well balanced.

Do yourself a favor!

"...shot-n-a-beer rock band whose material and attack will have you recalling stellar influences from rocks hall of fame. Fans will jump on these tunes (featuring "Blanket of Snow", "Dirty Brown", "Just For Shits") like a wolfpack on a meat patty.

  • Make No Excuses Rock N' Roll
    author: David Poldiak

If the earth would end and the human race could only send a few articles of music memorabilia in a time capsule to outer space, this album would be included as one to represent rock n' roll...it's an in your face, make no excuses type of album.

  • "...gritty, sexy, fast music blasting from the speakers.."

If you close your eyes and dream of cruising down a highway in an old school convertible, wind whipping your hair around, the image just isn’t complete without gritty, sexy, fast music blasting from the speakers. The band to make that image complete is the Dirty Kings. Mix one part bluesy southern funk, one part garage band, shake it up with a little bit of glam and punk, and you are left with the Dirty Kings, the epitome of what a true power rock band should be. On Electric Dirt, you are assaulted with drum beats that with rev you up, edgy lyrics, and guitar riffs that will jar the bones in your body. From the very second you press play and “Blanket of Snow” kicks up with it’s pounding beat, you realize that this band is super tight. Delivering fist pumping, energetic, and powerful sounds song after song, you will find your leg shaking in time with “Dirty Brown,” and nodding your head while listening to the sexy guitar licks of “So Happy.” The Dirty Kings are by far the kings of LA power rock. Crank Electric Dirt on your next road trip.

  • "It's dirty, gritty, sorta bluesy, and somewhat sexy!"
author: David Barker - Skratch Magazine

ELECTRIC DIRT/DIRTY KINGS/BARNBURNER RECORDS... Dirty Kings fit perfectly in the bar-rock scene. The Los Angeles-based trio is somewhere between Fu Manchu and a much less radio-friendly version of The Foo Fighters, rocking without any artsy pretension. Dirty Kings aim to rock, and that's what's accomplished. It's dirty, gritty, sorta bluesy, and somewhat sexy! Dirty Kings charisma allows them to blaze through the entirety of ELECTRIC DIRT without wearing thin on the listener's ears. Though I'm conscious of the fact that saying how much a band rocks is way overdone, it's the most appropriate way to describe these guys. - David Barker - Skratch Magazine Janruary 2006

  • RAWKS.
    author: Ed the Fuckin Ward

If an album could punch people in the balls, this would be the one. And you would want punched again. This album kicked my balls asses. In between screams of agony I cried for more.

  • "It’s always Saturday night in the world of the Dirty Kings and Saturday night
author: Alligator Jackson - Ohio Critic

DIRTY KINGS "ELECTRIC DIRT" CD. THE PARTY CD OF THE YEAR!!! No debate necessary!! The funnest party cd I’ve cranked in a while. The louder you crank it, the more fun it is. Take some southern funk, some young Rolling Stone-ish attitude, some stoner rock, throw in some Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies, metal boogie, some Detroit rock city garage band action, a slight tweak of glam and punk rock, about 10 hits of acid and throw in a blender. What you get is the experimental good time rock of the Dirty Kings. You want an instant party? The Dirty Kings deliver. The CD starts kicking with “Blanket of Snow” and rocks all the way through without letting up. Sorry! No ballads here. Not sure what Blanket of Snow is about but it doesn’t matter - it’s loud, wild, proud rock and roll. “Just For Shits” has the absolute swagger of a classic Rolling Stone song. “Swampussy” is pure good time rock and roll music. Definetly a crankin’ classic. A healthy dose of metallic boogie. No [political statements here. It’s always Saturday night in the world of the Dirty Kings and Saturday night ain’t a bad place to be. Check these rockers out at www.dirtykings.com or at their myspace.com site. “Electric Dirt” is a steal at the sale price 0f $10 which including the postage.

  • "One of rocks best kept secrets... is a secret no more!"
author: Tony Sison - All Access Magazine

ELECTRIC DIRT / Dirty Kings Barnburner Records 2005 In a world where music has grown to be dull and repeated few bands stand out from the mix. Dirty Kings step aside, walk against that boring old rerun grain, and gives you just what you need. This L.A. based power rock trio is the text book definition of what Rock and Roll is all about, attitude, passion and power. They prove that with their debut release, 'Electric Dirt'. This is an amazing album by an amazing band. There's not a bad song on here! That's rare in today's music. Excellent musicians, great lyrics, you name it they got it. The Dirty Kings are fueled by, B.B.COX--Vocals/Bass , CB CHARLIE --Drums, MOFO DANIELS --Guitars. The musicians are all competent and all three put their hearts into every song. As is evident once you hit play and "Blanket Of Snow" shoots out your speakers and immediately shakes your foundation. Then you have tracks like, "Just For Shits", "See The Green" and my personal favorite, "Swampussy", that are guareented to get your rocks off. Dirty Kings don't follow commercial trends, don't follow the latest rock fashions or looks, and don't write simple, uninspiring rock music. Dirty Kings stay true to their classic rock influences on 'Electric Dirt' and never let them sound dated or boring. The new classic rock is here! One of rocks best kept secrets... is a secret no more! let's get the word out!!! Dirty Kings rock like nobody's business! TONY SISON, ALL ACCESS MAGAZINE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
