notes
Dina Torok has performed in various bands in Los Angeles over the past five years and sung on numerous tracks for film and television. Finally she was ready to record her own music.
"This album has all the energy and excitement that any pop-rock album could hope to have, and Dina's vocals are beautiful and enticing in front of the band, a combination that will keep listeners moving to the music and asking for more", says Daniel Bautista, producer of The State I Get In.
"The songs I wrote came from the heart. They were based on personal moments in my life, and I wanted to share pieces of my story. While I had a lot of fun performing in the local clubs and coffee houses, I wanted the music to be taken to a new level on the album."
At the core is a folk, singer-songwriter feel. With Bautista at the helm as producer, and a team of wonderfully talented musicians, these songs have been transformed into energetic, full, pop-rock pieces. Yet there is a versatility in the players and variety in the writing and production that make each song unique.
"Deep Inside" and "Living for Today" offer insight into a personal philosophy... "Do You Feel The Same Way" (the first of several Torok/Bautista collaborations) reminds us of that simple question... The hypnotic "Whatever Happened to You" presents a melody that lulls the listener while leaving them wondering... And the pulsing "Believe In Yourself" fuses the influences of different cultures, merging a Latin-based rhythm with dancing Middle-eastern vocals.
The final results yield a crisp and clear recording laden with upbeat rhythms and melodic hooks!

Excellent CD! Way to go Dina!
author: Darren TerryExcellent CD! Dina displays a very wide range of musical styles on this CD, especially in my favorite song from the album, Believe In Yourself (where she combines Indian-style vocals with a Latin-enfluenced beat). Dina, I am impressed! This album is quickly becoming one of my personal favorites.
YOUR MUSIC SOUNDS WARM AND REFRESHING
author: marc ghey dina......i have been trying to keep up with u since we met at the taxi convention a few years back........ i am impressed with your drive and determination to see projects and goals through which is tough in LA......but i clearly hear how u use the tough parts and turn it into a gold mine........i really have enjoyed your songs as i listen to them......as i said, "warm and refreshing"
Beautiful sound, touching lyrics, real music!
author: Tara Campasano MaliaThe originality of the music, authentically touching lyrics and smooth vocals place The State I Get In among the best. Invigorating, yet relaxing at the same time.

author: Punchline MagazineIf you live in LA, then you know the lilting, ethereal vocals and powerhouse performance style of Dina Torok. In this CD, Torok finally breaks free from her Lily's Siren roots to discover her own true sound--lyrical, moody, upbeat and mellow. She manages to combine the sugary buzz of pop with the soulful depth of Latin without compromising either. Tough to describe, yet impossible to ignore. Play it once and you're hooked.
Professional, cohesive, versatile, talented. Liked it.
author: Bob S.Well-produced, professional. Great melodies and rhythms. Band and all vocals are balanced and cohesive. Tight harmonies. Talented lead vocalist offers a versatile and uncommon quality. Dina can be powerful or ethereal without going too far either way. I liked it!
