notes
Diego Picetti's debut album is a diverse mix of sounds, from blues to fusion rock to experimental. This first collection of songs explores the various sides of instrumental guitar. Some guitarists focus on sheer speed, or the bending and re-bending of strings. Diego's style is completely immersed in his passion for rich, buttery tone. His unique sound flows in waves, exploring every inch of his instrument. Each song has been carefully and intricately written-you won't find any "filler" songs here. "Session 1" is really an historical look into the evolution of this self-taught artist's musical journey. Diego began, as many young guitar players do, with one name on his mind- HENDRIX. After teaching himself to play by listening to Jimi's records, he found he had a penchant for seeing a different side to the blues than many of his peers, who had told him it must be kept simple. None of that for Diego Picetti. His intricacy is like a fine lace, even with something as rockin' as the blues, and one day, he heard someone who seemed to agree with him-Eric Johnson. When Diego first listened to Ah Via Musicom, he became inspired in a whole new way, and began delving deeper into the textures and "colors" of tones and chordal structures, melding blues, jazz, and even a classical feel into his songs. Even the experimental "Morning Moon," in all it's chaotic beauty, is so delicate and precise, it hardly seems unbalanced from the fusion or blues tracks on the album. It's more like a lovely dessert.

Diego Picetti plays nicely
author: Timothy The Bass PlayerThis CD is great, and its only weakness is that it cannot catch the true character of the artist's live performance. Diego has an instinctive feel for how music should be played, and his instincts are correct to a degree that is really quite incredible. I could only rave more about a live CD. I intend to purchase every new session that this guitarist chooses to publish.

author: Jill DunbarEach song on this CD is unique, and each one highlights Diego's intricate guitar fingering techniques and artistic diversity. I especially love "The Dreamer," which is sweet and dreamy.

If you like the blues, purchase Session One. Picetti has blues in his soul. I am particuliarly fascinated with Rollin' Blues and Da' Groove. Drumming can be a little tighter but killer cd overall. Waiting for Session II to come out!
Beautiful melodies and a very unique blend of styles
author: Chris EllisI bought this Cd and listened to it. Diego Picetti is an artist in the truest sense of the word. There is one song in particular, Track 7 that incorporates modern day guitar tones and effects with music that could have been written by a Mozart or Beethoven. Diego has the same gift for translating concepts into melodies and when you listen, you understand exactly what he's saying even though no words have been spoken or sung. Very few artists that I know of have that gift. You should buy this Cd.
