notes

David Glenn Dyer recently received international recognition by having four of his compositions place in the Billboard International Songwriting Contest. He was also a recent semifinalist in the ISC International Songwriting Competition. This most recent record, "Crossroads Grocery," recorded with Oscar & Grammy-winning producer Scott Mathews (Shana Morrison, daughter of Van, sings a duet and provides backing vocals on three tracks), is receiving critical acclaim and extensive domestic and international radio airplay. Track 10 (Ustacould) reached the #12 position on Europe's Country Hotdisc Top 40 Chart, where Track 4 (Big JES) appeared for 8 weeks and peaked @ the #25 spot, and Track 3 (They Don't Know What They've Got – the duet with Shana) recently reached the #23 position. David has written music which has been licensed for a myriad of applications including most recently ABC network's "World News Tonight."

Major influences include Hank Sr., Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, Rodney Crowell, Elvis, The Stones, and the Allman Brothers.

David is a storyteller who has been entertaining Southeasterners with his songwriting, singing, and playing for over 20 years. While his natural playing style is what he calls twang rock (described by one music critic as "Hank Sr. meets the Beatles"), David is a prolific singer-songwriter who works in a variety of musical genres. David currently performs around the Southeast both as a solo artist (see www.davidglenndyer.com) and with his group The Crooked Smile Band (see www.crookedsmileband.com).

This CD is mixed with so many different styles of music I never tire of listening to it. David is an awesome storyteller and his voice is both soothing and engeretic. Anyone over the age of 30 can relate to all his songs! Keep up the good work.

  • David's a real writer who's only going to get better

This is music outside the genres I usually listen to, but more of it could convert me to a Dyer fan. This artist can really write!

Liked this CD a lot. Not much into Country Music in general, but there are some catchy melodies on the CD that make it a worthwhile purchase. From the heart.

I love this record. Save Me and Ustacould really rock and then there are songs like Big JES, They Don't Know, and Old Grey Stone that tell a beautiful story that really hits you in the gut. Superbly arranged and timeless. A very worthwhile purchase.

Great depth on this album - from the excellent lyrical work on They Don’t Know to the funky licks on Vangeline rounded off this with the retro rock of Ustacould this album has it all! DGD is certainly playing from the soul on this one. Enjoy!
