In late 2001, Rick, Bubba, Tom & I went into the studio again... at Hit Music Studios in Spencer, NC. The songs recorded were mostly songs from our "live show". "He'll Take The Blues From You", "Preacherman Told Me", "Ya Gotta Have Jesus" & "Since I First Met Jesus" really capture the feel of the band, as we were "in concert".
While working on this CD, we were asked to participate in a "Christian Talent Search" with a starting pool of over 600 musical acts. We were fortunate to make it all the way to the finals, but finished sixth. Soon after the CD was released, we were named "One Of The Top Ten Indie Artists in Chritian Music" by ChristianityToday.com.
We continued to perform at churches, Christian coffeehouses & prisons... & I began to do a series of concerts at nursing homes in the Black Mountain, NC area. I originally thought of these concerts as a way to "get my chops back" after the lingering effects of my stroke... but, soon came to realize what a blessing these hour-long sets were to me. Music, & certain specific songs, have the power to break through walls built by illness & infirmity. One afternoon, a lady in a wheel chair began to sing "Mack, The Knife" along with me. And I now realize that everyone in the world knows, at least, the chorus of "You Are My Sunshine".
