notes

Composer-poet Desar invokes a ragtag cortege of classical, art-rock, and dance pop to conjure forth a desperate tenderness from the hidden corners of his disturbing dreamscape.

Seven years in the making, Land of the Blind is a midnight stroll through the haunted psyche of a man obsessed.

Saying as much with his impassioned piano solos as with his nightmare-carnival lyrics, Lucien Desar pulls the unquiet ghosts of lives unfinished from their graves, bathes them in the light of recognition, and pulls them onto the dancefloor for final redemption.

With avant-garde, yet catchy melodies and taut, expressive vocals, Desar turns the daunting dreamtime into a house of mirrors, leaving you to decide which is more challenging.

  • Art Rocket
    author: Laurin Ashbridge

As a listener to Art Rock (Roxy Music, Eno, etc.), Bowie and Iggy Pop, I found the clips to be very listenable.

  • "Enchants the senses"

I enjoy the way it all blends semingly together.

I liked it a lot. There is little music out there that really captures the darkly magick feeling that I want, and this CD does it grandly.
