notes
In the musically bustling city of Boston, new singer-songwriters pop up on a daily basis, but few earn any lasting attention.
Kris Delmhorst has been commanding more and more of it, gaining momentum steadily since her arrival in town in 1996.
Kris's combination of true musicianship and compelling writing has earned her enthusiastic support of audiences wherever she goes.
From multiple Boston Music Award nominations to winning the 2001 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Troubador Contest, the word is out that Kris Delmhorst is one of the fastest rising artists on the acostic music curcuit.
Catalyst Disc is proud to present FIVE STORIES, her stunning national debut.
Produced by former Morphine drummer Billy Conway, the album is a rich musical journey from edgy rock to pure bluegrass.

A little funky guitar, traditional acoustic instruments and a great voice.
author: Steve HewittThis cd opens with a little funky guitar, traditional folk instruments and a great voice. Kim's voice has become a great tool for communicating the beauty of her songs. Now you don't focus on who else she might sound like but rather what a great instrument her voice has become. Awsome!
Clutch these jewels close
author: Ina HeckerThe woman is gifted. Her songs may take you down some known roads but the twists and turns of verse and voice will knock you out. She gets it and she'll get to you. Five stories is simply a great collection. And don't miss Songs for a Hurricane either.
New "old" music - continuing a wonderful tradition
author: JelenaI think that the thing that makes me happiest about this album is that I feel that traditional music is still alive and well. Someone still cares about writing and singing music, and that we don't have to depend on what we hear on radios these days. Thanks, Kris!
An album you really feel
author: Ryane MossThis almbum is one that you want to get and keep- it's songs come in and out of your life and find new meaning and provide new comfort each time- the way good music should.
Another wonderful collection of listenable songs by the incomparable Ms. Delmhor
author: Devorah SteinbergI keep the CD on player for days at a time and play it over and over! The sounds range from folk to bluegrass, traditional and new. Great lyrics, wonderful tunes, some haunting, some inspirational. A must-have for folk lovers.
Kris does it again!
author: JenThis disc helped me retain my sanity. From the 1st track (which kicked my butt and got me writing, got me into the gym, got me up every morning) to the last. My favorite tho, is Little Wings. :) She manages to key into real emotions and turn them into songs that are far from trite or overdone. The guest appearances from Jabe Beyer and Lori McKenna are great. I love, I love, I love...
Mumbly Magic....
author: Brendan ConnellyThe powerful and hautingly beautiful voice of Kris Delmhorst socks out another amazing album. Delmhorst's trademark silky mumbling that her fans came to love with her debut CD, Appetite, is perfectly supplemented by Five Stories. If you loved Appetite, then rush to get Five Stories. All the songs on Five Stories are classic Delmhorst and will force you keep pushing the repeat button on your CD player while you try to decide which one you like better! With Five Stories, Delmhorst displays an amazing depth and range - both in terms of her musical styles and her soulful vocals which run the range from heartbreaking lovesongs like Damn Love Song, to the light and twangy Mean Old Wind. Delmhorst is a chameleon and makes me think the world has finally found a female equivalent to the master, Van Morrison.
