The glamorous singer has a big range, from a warm, full alto to falsetto notes she plucks like cherries from the air, Alexander can scat-sing, stretch a melody way out and stay in tune, or coo her way through a ballad.

A Rare Vocal Talent
author: Ed RehfeldOn both this CD and "Unplugged," Dee Alexander displays an impressive vocal range, a honey-rich voice, compelling vocal stylings, and real feeling and emotion. If you crossed Sarah Vaughan's beautiful voice with the powerful delivery of Abbey Lincoln and Nina Simone, you'd wind up with Dee Alexander. These recordings are a worthy, and unique, addition to any collection.
Amazing talent!
author: JoanI heard Dee for the first time a couple of weeks ago at Navy Pier, and bought one CD (umplugged ...)on the spot. I hunted down this one and would love to buy more. Why isn't this artist being recorded more? Her sound is stunning. She's an amazing talent.

author: JohnIf you don't know the scoop on Dee Alexander, you better ask somebody!
author: k2sThis CD is a great example of the true direction of jazz today, not the watered down "darlings" of jazz you here on every city's smooth jazz station. Dee carries the torch of the great female vocalists of jazz's heyday with aplomb, with very fresh imaginings of tried and true standards, along with some great new offerings that are sure to become classics themselves. If you don't know the scoop on Dee Alexander, you better ask somebody!
