notes

Here's what others hve to say . . .

"Noo Yawker Josh Weinstein AKA Decibel offers up something a little different from your (superb) Jeff/Jack Lewis’, Adam Greens and their quirky yet deadpan anti-folk style. Perhaps the genre dictates the playing style, but is it a giant leap from abluestic rock (as I’d call) acoustic blues rock music to anti-folk? Granted, it might be, but NYC sure doesn’t normally spawn this kinda emotive, less attitude driven creature… right?

Yes, without any question and you can be sure that after a few listens, the vocal delivery actually increase in the sense making odds! So, if you can get past his seemingly pretentious and undeniably peculiar delivery, you should find nothing but praise for Decibel." - glasswerk.co.uk

"[decibel.'s] voice is full, resonant, and breathes eroticism. Decibel’s lyrical style describes situations which are so vivid, one can almost see, hear and taste his experiences . . . Josh Weinstein’s musical style encompasses the human attribution of pain and transcends it into a work of art. This is what artistic expression is all about." - Indieguitarists.com

"The soulful, heady lyrics are backed by a fierce rhythm guitar in Weinstein's own brand of acoustic rock/blues." - pashtastic.blogspot.com/

============
Here's the skinny . . .

Bob Marley once wrote, "One good thing about music, when it hits, you feel no pain" . . .

When Josh Weinstein was in the eighth grade, he was diagnosed with diabetes. Already dealing with the awkwardness that accompanies being thirteen years old, he now deal with an illness that not one of his friends shared. He was embarrassed. He was alone.

He picked up a guitar.

Since then, the guitar has not left the Boston native's hands. He has been singing and playing anywhere and everywhere. From in front of the mirror in his mother's room to the stages of New York's Knitting Factory, The Bitter End, and The Living Room. From late two hour sets in coffee shops in Syracuse, NY to the venues of London's Soho region. From the garages and basements of friends to headlining spots in Boston, Washington DC, and Sydney, AUS. Josh loves to perform. And it shows.

He leaves everything on the stage; past, present, and future.

decibel. is the love child of Josh Weinstein's love for acoustic rhythms and loud, pulse bending rock. Where the simplest folk meets the hardest scream. It's the idea that the raw, stripped down nature of acoustic music can have the power of an army at war.

Josh is currently recording his first full-length album with Anywhere But Home Records.
