Born in Maysville, Kentucky, Dean now lives in Indianapolis where he plays his acoustic blend of folk, gospel and Americana. He sings songs that are both religious and secular, songs that tell stories about people, life and faith.

Doc Possum of Indy Folk News writes: "Dean is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He is Reverend Dean Phelps, with no apologies, but although he's a Reverend, he's not very churchy. He is a regular guy with a fun repertoire, a relaxed manner, nice picking, and a friendly way of putting a song across!"

This Old House contains original arrangements of traditional faith music, but it also covers a broader scope of music to include Dean's traditional, folk, rock and gospel influences. This CD includes acoustic ballads, folk rock songs and gospel celebrations.

    First of all let express my kudos on your most recent work "This Old House" which recently arrived on my desk for review. After previewing your work, I have found several cuts to be appropriate for "Air Play" on this station during our Sunday morning programming of gospel music. I have found this work to be refreshing, uplifting and uncluttered, and it features a pure approach to the music with production values that rival the very best in the industry. The songs which I have added to rotation include: "Hold On To Your Faith" // "Farther Along" // "Love Divine" // "Woke Up This Morning" // Congratulations on your effort and please be sure to keep me in mind for the mailing of future projects that you may create or become involved with.
