notes

Conceptual Artist, Daniel Dancer has been writing and singing songs since he was a youngster working with metaphor to help us raise our sights, broaden our steps and see what is truly happening on this beautiful planet. When Adam East and Kris Deelane came into his life, he fell in love with their music (see: www.sweetjuice.com) and invited them to play at one of his Art For the Sky events called The Dove In in Portland before the Iraq War. In the process he learned they had their own recording studio and over the next two years, recorded all the tunes on Wild is the Way. Since they knew all the best musicians in town, he was able to not only capitalize on the excellent singing and vast musical talents of Adam and Kris themselves, but also the best sax, violin, cello and lap steel players in the region!

All the songs are Mystery inspired, (with a little Neil Young thrown in) and are met to be a song track to getting our act together as a species quickly! Some have a pow wow kind of beat drawing from his affinity with the Indian people of this land and his own precious little bit of Mohawk blood. All the tunes might be considered the soundtrack to his book, Desperate Prayers: A Quest For Sense in a Senseless Time and his work as a conceptual artist creating giant living paintings made of people with schools and communities across the land (see: www.artforthesky.com).

The band name "SkySight" was chosen to reflect the topic of several of the songs and his work in general which is about awakening our "skysightedness" . . . learning to see the world not only from above, but through the eyes of all beings. This album is guaranteed to help you raise your sights and see the Grand Design. Reflecting the ethic which runs through his music, the CD package is state of the art Earth Friendly . . no plastic, recyled box, etc.. The CD's orignial art depicts Takaya, The Goddess of Synchronicity bringing back the wild at the edge of the apocalypse . . . a theme which runs through several of the album's songs.

  • Earth Healing Activist Music

For decades I have loved the band "Acoustic Medicine", playing my old cassettes to ribbons. Hearing "Skysight" I feel I have found a new album by my old fav's, and its on CD! May it survive the many spinnings I'm putting it thru! It's a fresh brew of medicine for this acoustic heartsong/ earthchant fan. Daniel sings with a quirky "Neil Young" simplicity and an awesome back up band." I appreciate the strong commitment to intercultural peacemaking as well. Takaya guide us!

  • Wild Is The Way connects the listener with Daniel Dancer's heart.

I appreciate the messages contained within this CD. Daniel Dancer brings his deep knowing of Spirit and his love for Mother Earth to create sweet, singable songs which invoke our inherent human connection with all that is. I especially like his ability to find phrases from ancient Native American languages that blend with the modern english lyrics in creating a truly unique perspective. As a musician, I am able to see first in my own musical works ways that I could do even better next time, and the same is true for Daniel's CD, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, I am happy to encourage the reader to buy this disc and share it with your friends, perhaps on your way to visit one of your favorite natural places! Enjoy in joy... • wild wholeness and heartful wisdom mixed with these beautiful tunes

WARNING: The wild wholeness and heartful wisdom mixed with these beautiful tunes makes these songs stick in your heart and mind for days...weeks. You'll find yourself singing them over and over. They whirl through your ears, intrigue the mind, open your mouth, and settle into your listening heart, thankfully, for that is the place of beginning for all action needed for our beautiful earth to heal. So many moments where the words or the amazing instrumentals brought me to tears. Thank you, Daniel Dancer.
