dawn's music comes from the mouth and mind and fingers of 24 year old Louisville transplant dawn Landes. Now based in NYC, dawn has toured both nationally and abroad and worked with several respected artists (HEM, Philip Glass, Joseph Arthur) in the recording studio as an assistant engineer. Breakfast with Dawn
author: James WestwaterLike a slightly less morbid Lisa Germano, and with a voice like angels the morning after, Landes grabs us by our beer-soaked lapels and shows us the sunrise. Soon we're all jamming around the breakfast table, our headaches almost forgotten. The best songs have hints of the Beta Band, Smog, John Cage and Low, all strung together with that dulcet warble. Dawn Landes makes folk music for a post-punk world.
I love this cd.
author: AmandaI buy alot of cds, mostly because I've heard a few songs I like by the artist and I want to give them a chance. Some cds grab my attention and surprise me with how truly great they are. Some cds bore me, and the song or songs I did like are the only ones I ever listen to. This cd grabbed my attention and I can really say I love all the songs on it, and plan to buy more by Dawn Landes. Her voice is sweet, but never sickeningly so, and her lyrics are simple, but never boring. This is definitely a cd I don't regret buying.
Brilliant songwriting by a true artist
author: Jason T.The release of dawn's Music is one of those major events, like Suzanne Vega's debut album in the mid-80's or the explosions caused by comet fragments crashing into Jupiter in the 90's. At first, I thought it would be interesting, experimental music, and I had only heard her disturbing piece on the powerful 9/11 tribute album Vigil. But now I know that she is a true artist. I appreciate the mysterious and strange parts of dawn's Music especially; and this covers virtually every track. "Traffic" seems to be a kind of 21st-century "Pet Sounds" instrumental. I also love the upbeat way she sings about a dark subject like scars.
Loved it.
author: ElvaI recently discovered Dawn (from the Winter Passing sound track). She has a beautiful voice! I really like the CD. There is one song though, she abuses acordion.
Very good
author: AlexA Very good CD. I heard the artist in the winter passing movie, i expected it to be like that it was a little faster then i thought it would be so i was kind of bummed about that but it is still good. All in all a good buy.
Amazing music, amazing voice...a must hear!
author: Debra ScottGreat mix of acoustic and electric, awesome and goofy and sweet all on one CD. Dawn's voice is crystalline and sensual at the same time. The poignancy of the song Kids in a Play will ring true for everyone, as will the sweet sensuality of Honey Bee. Looking forward to more from this extremely talented artist.
very glad

Breakthrouh multi-genre original work, high energy, pure artistry.
author: N AronsonA breakthrough multi-genre accomplishment original, high energy, pure artistry. A generation bridge builder. The youngest musician to get in my listening rotation since the 80’s. First heard at RnR Vermont-Great set, Always enjoyed CD ever since, nice to have the new copy.
Honest, modest, and sweet
author: Micajah NyeI will say I am quite impressed. And if you knew me, and how picky i can be, that would mean alot. What really caught me was the fact that I could tell Dawn loves to play music. Her voice is soaked with this passion. These things tend to grab my and heart...and never let go.

Dawn, I saw you open for Hem in Atlanta in 2004 and I'm sad that I didn't buy your CD at the show. I've been missing out. I love your CD and I hope you continue to find success. Cheers!
dawn rocks
author: amy leah emermandawn is one of those dynamos who comes along every now and then. she's filled with talent, and all the appeal of the stars. check her out. she plays accordion, glockenspiel (spelling, anyone?) and lord knows what else. what a voice...yay, dawn
My favorite
author: Monique BachThis album is my new Favorite. I listen to it at least two time a day. woooohooo thanks!
Very interesting, I want to hear what she does next.
author: Andy SheardA very interesting album full of allusions and illusions. She is obviously very talented and blessed with a great imagination. Experiments with production and arrangements keep the listener on their toes. The standard of songs does vary a bit but there is more than enough quality to make me want to hear what direction she goes in on her next album.
- author: Tamara Turner, CD Baby
Desolate country roads rising and falling across a misty landscape, rain pattering at the window as the dark blanket of night slowly creeps over a hushed city... her music can be heavy and dark, even sluggish and struggling, but what she's captured is a distilled, sensory experience that leaves out all the nouns and paints introspective pictures with verbs and adjectives alone. She will remind you that a simple guitar line can express volumes. The wispy, trailing curl of smoke of her melodies will entrace you, enchant you and charm.
