notes
With influences like Stan Getz, Paul Desmond, and Hank Mobley, it's no wonder that Los Angeles-based artist Dave Wilson has become one of the industry's most in-demand saxophonists. His soul, rhythm and craftsmanship are all on display on his first EP--along with his talent for composition. He ventured into music at an early age, learning to play the piano before he even entered kindergarten. At age 10, he was inspired to pick up the saxophone. It was at this early point in his life that Dave quickly found the instrument of his soul's expression. During the next few years, he would also fill out his woodwind arsenal by mastering the flute and clarinet. He spent the remainder of his teens and early 20s refining his talents by working with musicians all over the musical spectrum from old favorites like Engelbert Humperdinck and jazz pedagogue David Baker to newcomers James Torme and Jessica Fichot.
After absorbing numerous lessons from the masters at whose feet he worked, Dave finally decided to venture forth on his own as an artist. The first fruits of this new beginning for Dave are the songs appearing on "Burlap Sax", his premiere project as a solo musician. This exciting instrumental venture represents the debut of a fresh new talent that is sure to continue to inspire and please audiences everywhere.
