[Bubble] frontman and chief songwriter Dave Foster has paid attention to the worthy rock of ages, from Lennon and McCartney to Roddy Frame and the aforementioned Squeeze's Difford and Tilbrook team.
If the 11 songs on "Bash Bish" are any sign of things to come, there's no bursting this Bubble.

The month after that review came out Bubble played their last in a string of "Bash Bish" promotional shows at Luna Lounge on NYC's Lower East Side. That summer songwriter Dave Foster jumped from Williamsburg sublet to sublet carrying only his Gibson acoustic guitar and Mini-Disc recorder, with no plans to reconvene the band. By summer's end he found a room to rent (from Brian Dewan) in Williamsburg, reclaimed his home recording equipment from storage and was now armed with several MD's full of song ideas. He had recently checked out a jam roommate Dewan had done at Black Betty with bassist Tony Maimone, a rotating cast of rappers and instrumentalists...all fueled by drum loops and grooves. On September 10, 2001, after returning from Black Betty (where the Dewan/Maimone jam had been cancelled earlier), Dave began recording a song using only a handful of drum loops, a few guitars and some personal turmoil for musical fuel. Dave worked into the early morning hours and completed “Neverending”. When he woke up it was September 11th and there was no going back. After the chaos of that day settled Dave was writing and recording at a furious pace with Brian Dewan contributing keyboards. In 2002, with the album complete in demo form, Bubble drummer Tom DeVito suggests taking the songs to the next level and agrees to produce. Shortly after this suggestion, Dave discovered he was going to become a father and production proceeded. By 2003 Dave and wife Allison welcomed son Reuben. Tom and Dave continued off-and-on to replace old tracks and embellish with newer tracks including vocals from Allison, Bubble bandmate Mark Humble as well as Bubble keyboardist Max Low (then Pep). Finally in 2006 Tom completed final mixing and Dave, Allison and Reuben welcomed another Foster…Jude! After 6 years “Blue Circle” was finally mastered by Fred Smith (Television bassist, “Bash Bish” producer), pressed and now you can hear all the music that’s been waiting to get inside your ears.

author: RadioIndy.comGetting inside the music of "Blue Circle" by Dave Foster is likened to a journey to the center of the Earth, radically different yet refreshingly welcoming, as a traveler to a foreign land comes across a landmark that has beckoned for years. This songwriter reminded us of greats like John Lennon and even Dave Matthews; thought-provoking and versatile lyrically, along with a masterful use of modern beats, funky throw-backs, and synthesized vocals. We especially enjoyed "Falling To Pieces", which combines all of the aforementioned elements of genius songwriting, production, and performance. Way far out front vocals and bitter raw emotion drive us to pick our favorite, "All You Gave To Me", for it's contemporary bass-line and hip lyrical makeup.
