Night Time! is the third CD of handmade all-ages 21st century folk music from Dan Zanes and Friends.

It won the Parents Choice Gold Award and was the Amazon.com children's record of the year in 2002.

Night Time! is a celebration of the mysterious hours between dusk and dawn.

This isn't what you would call a lullaby record (note the exclamation point) but when the dance party is over and it's cool down time, this mostly acoustic CD of handmade songs for the all-ages underground will fill the air with lyrical, organic, sounds and songs.

Guests include John Doe, Aimee Mann, Lou Reed, and Dar Williams as well as returning friends Barbara Brousal, Father Goose, The Sandy Girls, Donald Saaf, and The Rubi Theater Company.

    Every Dan Zanes and Friends cd is great, but this one is perhaps our family favorite. Great mix of songs that appeal to both kids and their parents. I'd recomend any of the Dan Zanes and Friends cd's (we have them all) but this one is a great place to start!

    This is a fantastic CD. I had not heard of this artist or CD before this encounter. The CD scores high on many fronts: 1). There is an excellent postive undertone to the music. 2). The music is great. 3). Somehow both kids and adults can enjoy the same CD.Very unusual. 4). each song is worth listening to.

    My 14 month old son received this as a gift for his 1st birthday, now every time we put it on he gets excited! He loves the illustrated board book that serves as the CD case, carrys it around with him and dances while he reads it. We dance together when the songs come on, I put it on to soothe him when he is cranky....works like a charm. We are getting him 3 more Dan Zanes CDs for Christmas!! Love it!

    One of our favorite DZ discs and we know them all very well. I frequently send this as a baby gift and as an introduction to the DZ vision of children's music. Almost all the adults I know who've had to listen to it are also big fans of the lyrical tunes and sweet (but not too) harmonies. DZ cds have also turned my son on to Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly.     I bought this CD for christmas, so I haven't listened to it. Trust me, I'm chomping at the bit for my step-son to open it on Christmas so we can ALL listen! He loves listening to House Party when he goes to sleep. So I know for sure that Night Time will be a hit - think of the dreamland that he'll go to! I'm 35 & a new fan, thanks to the Today Show.     Great CD! There's a lot of fun music for babies and kids to dance to. When she was a newborn, my niece would immediately stop crying when she heard Night Owl. It worked every time. Now I give this CD to friends who have just had a baby - maybe it'll work for them too.

I love being able to tell my son about the artists on the CD Dan collaborated with and actually playing their music for him (we love Aimee Mann)!     Ordered this two weeks ago, and it was an *instant* hit with the whole family. The kids (2 and 5) have asked for it every time we get in the car. The true measure of its success? It doesn't drive the adults insane! The songs are catchy and musically interesting, and Zanes has the distinction of having assembled a children's chorus that can not only sing, but sing well and harmonize. So refreshing in a sea of terrible music for children. I'm off to order the rest of his albums!

    I am not familiar with most of the songs on this CD but it is a great listen. All who have heard it enjoyed it playing in the background. You don't have to be a kid to appreciate these songs. As an adult, this CD takes me back to when life was simpler, when I was a child.

    Yesterday we drove about an hour each direction to go hiking in the mountains with a car full of three boys chanting "More Dan Zane!!" I must confess that I listen to your music even when my son is not in the car. Thank you for producing music of this quality and content. Not only are the songs musically wonderful but the messages are congruent with how we are raising our kids. I particularly love "What a Wonderful World" with the Spanish poem intertwined!!!     This CD is the favorite of my 3-year-old, but rather than driving his parents crazy, I find myself popping it in even when I'm driving to work alone.     I cannot tell you how wonderful the Dan Zane, NightTime is for us. It was given to us after our second child, Benjamin, was born. It has been played many a late night and early morning. Dan Zane was introduced to us a couple of years ago and I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have children's songs that are enjoyable for the children and parents....thank you. By the way, I currently own four Dan Zane CD's and am now giving them as gifts myself.

    I am a Night Owl. I am also new to the music of Dan Zanes and Friends. All of his cd's are treasures. I relate to the theme of this one because I too am a Night Owl. Why can't I be in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, jamming with these folks??? Nothing could be more fun! I have a friend who plays guitar. I sat at my piano, and he sat with guitar, and together we learned to play the title song. Montana isn't Brooklyn, but the spirit of making music is alive, thanks to Dan Zanes and Friends.

    In many ways this is a perfect album. There is so much warmth and care that has gone into it. Never patronises which means that us parents can enjoy it because it's played straight and the song selection is such that whereas my 3 year old Jack loves Rattlin' Bog (4 times in a row yesterday) I can really enjoy say Night Owl or Linger For A While plus some great covers like the Guthrie song. Dan Zanes whether it's the Del Fuegos (I'm a huge fan) or the new material proves that great talent will always win through. Thanks Dan for this and I will be buying the others too. Great to be able to print off the lyrics and chords. Rattlin' Bog anyone?

    I heard Dan on the radio. He has a great idea about handmade music. "Nighttime" sounds like I could sing it too -- I'm included in the pleasure of it. But these musicians clearly know what they're doing and they're a joy to hear. I'm buying 5 or 6 copies.
