author: Clayton Laurence CheekDan Tyler reveals the playful, lighthearted and jazzier aspects of his skillful songwriting on “True Blue,” the follow-up to his more philosophical debut recording, “I Hope.” This ten-song CD was produced in Nashville by Joe Pisapia, formerly of the power-pop band, Joe, Marc’s Brother and as-of-late, guitar-slinger and producer for Guster. As one might expect from a veteran songwriter with a long list of hits, “True Blue,” offers listeners an array of clever lyrics and pretty melodies. Dan Tyler’s mellifluous baritone and nuanced vocal styling is a delight, especially in an age when loud and abrasive voices relentlessly assault the ear.
Keeps you listening over and over again.

TRUE BLUE is a cross between Country and Broadway. A uniquely lighthearted collection of feel good songs filled with optimism -- just what one needs in these turbulent times.
This Cd grows on you with every listen.
