notes
Danny began his music career playing in dance orchestras in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1960's while in high school. Upon hearing folk and blues artists such as Luther Allison, Mississippi John Hurt, Eric Anderson, Tom Rush and Tom Paxton, he was hooked on the rootsy, bluesy sound of acoustic guitars and stories of the working people and the lives they lived. Moving to Nashville in 1978 to pursue his blend of country, folk and rock, he traveled the U.S. performing as the lead singer of North Fork Express, a folk rock group. In the 1980's, he rocked the Nashville club scene as lead singer of the Mercenaries, a melodic pop rock band. The 1990's teamed him with co-writer Robert Jetton in The Rancheros, a group whose CBS and Warner Brothers recordings remained unreleased. Throughout these years, he also toured with Nashville recording artists, such as Ed Bruce, Terri Gibbs, J.D. Sumner, Billy Joe Shaver, Marshall Chapman and a host of others. Danny continues to perform as an acoustic artist in Nashville area bookstores and churches.
