notes
Danny Davis and His Detours is a five-man honky-tonkin' country/western band from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Danny Davis and His Detours draw on deep country roots and their show is an experience you won't want to miss.
Danny Davis was born in Broken Arrow, OK and raised surrounded by country music. At the age of 3, if not out riding his bicycle, Danny was playing drums, guitar, etc along with all the great C& W artists as their 45's spun on the family record player. Danny became heavily committed to playing country music for a living in his early 20's and has finally settled in with a band he calls "His Detours". With His Detours Danny has opened for many major acts including Gary Allan, Joe Diffee, Doug Stone, Ricky Lynn Gregg and Pake McEntire. Danny recently returned from Nashville, the mecca of C&W music, after finishing his new album produced by award winning Curt Ryle.
Bill Taylor became the Detours' fiddle player in 2002. As a child, Bill's first instrument was the Cello. He played with the Tulsa Youth Symphony and his talent and ability were rewarded with an opportunity to perform with the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Skitch Henderson. Bill started playing the fiddle in 1979. In 1991, he worked with recording artist Mark Nessler, touring the western United States and Canada. Over the years, Bill has opened for numerous major concert acts, including: the Statler Brothers, the Bellamy Brothers, Joe Diffie, Sawyer Brown, Toby Keith, Trisha Yearwood, Frenchie Burke, the Mavericks, Mickey Gilley, Marty Stuart, Sammy Kershaw, and Steve Wariner!
Jimmy Lee is the Detours' drummer. Born in Los Angeles, California, Jimmy Lee has toured with Randy Travis, as well as Grand Ol' Opry artists such as Charlie Walker, Hank Thompson, Rose Maddox, Freddie Hart, Sheb Wooley, Norma Jean, Tommy Cash and Warner Mack. Jimmy has also worked with many regional acts such as Movin' Country, Whatta Band, The Riddler Brothers, The Island Cowboys, Hot Licks 106, Most Wanted, Blue Collar Band and Earl Herron and The Sound of Country, to name a few. While working for these acts, Jimmy has opened for Nashville artists such as George Strait, George Jones, Reba McEntire, Conway Twitty, John Anderson, The Bellamy Brothers, John Schneider, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Gene Watson, Sawyer Brown, Del Reeves and many others.
Bob Kohut is the Detours bassist. He was born in Maryland and traveled around as an "Army Brat" learning the ways of life. He began playing bass in 1978. After 10 years of rock-n-roll Bob converted to C&W music and was soon voted as Top 5 Bass Players in Washington D.C. Bob has played with many touring bands and has shared the stage with such acts as Diamond Rio, Toby Keith, Mary Chapin Carpenter and the legendary Charlie Daniels Band. Bob moved back to Oklahoma 3 years ago and has been an integral part of the Detour sound for 2 years.
