Employing strong elements of jazz mixed with acoustics, this latest work describes the Christian life in a real and sometimes painful way.

notes

HIGH PLACES is the first original CD by artist Danny Byram since 1996. His Hymns Vol 1 & 2 projects (2001) were all arrangements of previously existing songs and his last release RETURN TO THE CANYON: BEST OF THE EARLY PROJECTS celebrated his first 2 early projects with remastered originals from an earlier era. HIGH PLACES is a fresh, new and energetic approach for Danny, employing elements of jazz mixed with his classic acoustic style to create a new sound for his listeners.

Lyrically HIGH PLACES is about not that. The songs speak from a very earthy, real and painful version of Christianity not explored by much in Christian circles but most likely where more live than care to admit. The questions are asked ("...where is God this year?") but not in anger ("...in my frustration I cry 'Lord, what do we do?'"). These kinds of raw truths, mixed with praise songs of hope, also truth, leave the listener in the presence of the "Greater One", but also wanting more music!
