DANNY GODINEZ BAND

"Explorative but accessibly grooving music, ranging from thoughtful pop songs, to improvisational funk/jazz jams; emphasizing the great talents of the musicians."

Danny Godinez - Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Vocals
Todd Anders Johnson - Drums, Percussion, Vocals
Farko Dosumov - Electric and Acoustic Bass
Joe Raven - Keyboards

Currently, Seattle's Danny Godinez Band has been involved in consistent regional touring in the Northwest. The group's national performances have been alongside groups such as Indigenous, Toshi Regan, Tom Landa and the Paperboys, The Photon Band, Omar Torrez Band, Lefthand Smoke, and Om Trio. In 2001, the group released the first full length record, Live In Anchorage, recorded at Humpy's in Anchorage, Alaska. The group's second live cd, Live In Anchorage II is now available as well.

Danny Godinez is originally from Richmond, Virginia where he played in the music scene for several years. He also sings lead vocals in the band and is just as comfortable with the acoustic guitar as he is the electric. Danny's creative guitar work has generated session work for various studios in the Seattle area.

Todd Anders Johnson is currently working primarily with his group, Salem, touring the Northwest, Alaska and Nantucket this summer. (http://www.salem-music.com) Todd's songwriting, vocal, and multi-instrumental abilities are integrated into the group's performances and recordings, as DGB plays several Salem songs that are on the live CDs. Todd has been touring, recording and teaching throughout the US and Canada with groups such as Tom Landa and the Paperboys, Omar Torrez, Forgotten Sol. Todd teaches drums at Seattle non-profit organization called Rock-School. He recently recorded drumset parts on Arturo Rodriguez's third instructional book/cd published by Mel Bay Music on Afro-Cuban contemporary music. Some of Todd's most recent recordings are on the Redhouse Records Bob Dylan tribute record with Tom Landa and the Paperboys that was released in May of 2001. Todd has been booking and managing Danny Godinez Band for three years as In The Pocket Productions and has been bringing other groups to Alaska as well.

Farko Dosumov, already a popular bassist in his native country of Uzbekistan, came to Seattle to study the Bass guitar at the prestigious Cornish College of the Arts. Quite an exciting bassist to watch live, his compositions and bass solos are a highlight of the group. A versatile bassist, Farko enjoys playing the upright as well as the electric bass with the band.

Joe Raven is the new addition to Danny Godinez Band. Originally from South Dakota, he had been performing in singer/songwriter circuits in the Northwest playing acoustic piano. Joe released his first self-produced cd entitled 'Dielectric' in 2000. His unique rhythmic playing style has added an inviting dimension to the sounds and arrangements of the band's songs.

  • Contageous and Full of Flavor!
    author: Jeanlizabeth

"Live in Anchorage ii" is an example of Danny's contageous "full of flavor" approach to live performance. It's as if you are there with him. Guitar riffs looped live and rockin out to his own spontaneous jams leaves the listener wondering how Danny does it. Totally unique, the musicianship on this CD embodies the genuine passion and energy Danny Godinez band creates on stage. Danny's spirit possesses and lifts the listener in voice, guitar, and band. Live in Anchorage ii is a sample of what this talented artist will bring next. Can't wait for the new album!

  • If you are looking for amazing music that will change your musical demands, you'
    author: Stephen Holland

It has been a very long time since any music has moved me as this music has. After seeing them live in Tacoma, I wanted to know where to find a CD so I could always have some memory of what I experienced live. This CD captures their live performance magnificently. The music live nearly moved me to tears for what the sheer musicianship made me feel. Vocals are smooth and fit so well with the music, but they are almost as a secondary voice to the phenominal guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. They run together so completely. Truly an amazing group of musicians and I look forward to a studio recording sometime in the future. I strongly recomend this CD, but I would urge even further to see these guys live. It is surely an experience never to be forgotten.

  • This is the most potential band
    author: Jason Gnehm

Danny Godinez band has exactly what I am looking for when I want to listen to something good. I cannot get enough. I was turned on to them by Jeremy Nivison, of Logan, Jeremy being formely from Seattle knows the band extremely well. I love the harmonics it is so inspirational to me as a musician myself. I am sad to hear that Farco has left. It makes me ticked. I think that you guys will still go far. I wish the band and farco luck.

  • Live in Anchorage 2 is a spiritaul awakening!
    author: Matt Hasselbeck

This Danny Godinez release is an exploratory journey into the vast musical mainframe of spirituality. It's main attribute includes versatility, from the delicious instrumental Willow to the fierce lyrical prowess of Tomorrow. Joe Raven's outstanding piano contibution in You and I transcends into absolute ectsasy. Todd Anders Johnson's competant drumwork, Farko's uncomprising bass licks, and Danny Godinez's sinulating guitar style molds this live CD into an epical fantasy wonderland.

  • Reminds me of their great show I saw in Seattle

I bought this cd in the middle of their show I saw them at in Seattle. Brings back great memories. Solid mix of well written lyrical songs to explosive instrumentals. Can't wait to hear more!

  • So great that I won't even take it out of my CD player!
    author: Molly Bennett

This is such a wonderful CD that I won't take it out of my CD player and I keep telling all of my friends to go buy it. It captures the energy that the band has live incredibly well; I had my doubts that a CD would be able to do them justice, as they were so phenominal live, but the vibe and energy and enthusiasm and pure ass-kicking rocking-out that I experienced in the club are re-created again every time I hit "play." The only thing that I would change is towards the end...I think it's at the beginning of track 7, when the band thanks the audience, or talks to them about something-or-other. It's kind of hard to hear and seems a little out-of-place on the CD as a whole. But overall, that is such a minor little thing to complain about that I'd tell anyone not to let THAT stop them from buying this CD. :)
