notes

copacetic: adj. snappy; fine, going just right

Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, a famous black tap-dancer, singer and actor during the turn of the twentieth century claims to have invented this word while working as a shoeshine boy in Richmond. Although others may dispute this claim, Mr. Robinson certainly did a lot to popularize the word. As you listen to these songs, I hope that they will be a blessing to your soul and help to make your day copacetic.

The flower on the front is Kniophia, more commonly known as "Red Hot Poker". This picture was taken at Pharsalia Plantation in Massey's Mill, VA.

I would like to thank my very special friends, Emma McDowell on the fiddle and Russell Watkins on the mandolin.

This album is dedicated to the memory of my cousin, Jakob Blake Bellamy (1981-2002). Jakob suffered from severe Bipolar Disorder aggravated by the events of 9/11. As Jacob of the Old Testament wrestled with God, so our Jakob wrestled with his illness. "Jakob's Song" is a special tribute to the celebration of Jakob's life.
