notes

"Lydian Scale" is the scale produced by playing the white keys on the piano from f to the next f. It is considered to be the brightest scale since the days of ancient Greece."

Dan Bar Hava studied classical composition at the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem before moving to NY to receive a Masters in classical composition at Manhattan School of Music. Since Dan came to NYC, he has composed films scores, produced pop artists, and taught composition.

Set Free (track 5), is an adaptation of a religious Yemenite folk song used in Sabbath ceremonies.

Scherzo (track 9) is a marriage between Beethoven's 3rd movement of the Tempest Sonata and North African rhythm.

The title cut (track 2 and 3)is a unique blend of pop sound and classical structure and technique.

Stormbird (track 1) is a very enjoyable track, featuring a three tiered piano solo; this tune is presently part of the live set of RIPE.

Presently, Dan is band leader and half of the writing team of RIPE, a New York City based progressive pop band (www.ripemusic.com). For another look at the music of Dan Bar Hava, listen to the RIPE CD, Pretty Shiny Must Touch (as listed on CD Baby).
