(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

A kaleidoscope of emotions, a movie to watch with closed eyes and an open heart, the ancient meets the future for a more progressive concept of "ambient", mixing meditation, sound research and a pleasant chillout mood.

notes

Does this stuff resemble anything else? Probably yes, as both of us have been crunching music for decades in a pretty eclectic way, but I couldn't say what.

It's a work made by 2 musicians that might have their own issues, like a flute conservatory diploma or dsp synthesis development, but sonic curiosity and mind exploration have been the main ingredients of this music.

It was hard to decide how to categorize this CD for the CD Baby search engine but we had to do it...schemes are always too tight to contain reality, they mostly exclude and in this music too many things go beyond the electronic ambient connotation.

It has been a voyage, not a simple weekend. We hope you can enjoy this voyage too.

  • A masterful blend of the electronic and the acoustic.
    author: Ben Walker

I bought this album a while ago and it has been a permanent resident on my CD Player since then. It is a masterful blend of the electronic and the acoustic, filled with virtuoso playing and virtuoso programming. The album is evocatve, intelligent, thought-provoking, and quite beatiful. Unlike many so-called 'ambient' albums, this album deserves careful listening. You can let the soundscapes just wash over you if you like, but you can also delve into the album deeply - it is so carefully and artfully constructed. There are often times when I can't tell whether I'm listening to an acoustic instrument or a synthetic one. I don't mean that the album is full of synthetic emulations of real instruments - if you hear something that's recognisable as a real instrument then you know its a real instrument - these guys can really play, particularly guitar and flute, What I mean is that the album is full of new, interesting sounds, which might be created on some instrument you've never heard of, or might be purely synthetic. The synthetic sounds on the album sound so organic that they blend in beautifully with all the acoustic instruments. Congratulations to both of you for creating a beautiful ambient masterpiece.

  • The title says it: An experience, or a journey if you like.
    author: marino

This is a rare kind of album. Usually, in electronic music, you have either melodic, extroverted stuff from someone who has stage experience, or maniacally constructed textures from someone who does it all in the studio. The music on 'Experience of Space' is a very successful attempt to join both aspects, without subtracting anything from either side. Even more important, it sounds like an unity, both in sound and in the compositional approach. The sound is a very healthy blend of electronics with acoustic instruments, sometimes processed by the computer. The sound design is exceptional; you discover new details at every listen, especially if you listen thru headphones. The compositions are perfectly integrated with the synth/computer programming, so that the music sounds deep, yet accessible. To me, that's one of the biggest reward a modern composer can hope for.

  • It's like a beautiful collage of paintings done with sound
author: Jimmy Vogts managing owner R & R Recording/Mastering House

I always love music that has passion, and this is truly very passionate. Acoustic instruments, ethnic percussion, modular synthesis, it has it all. This is an artist that we should keep our eyes on, as he is painting masterpieces with his unique combinations of sounds and rhythms. A 21st century Monet. Well recorded, well performed, and superbly mastered display of sound, passion and talent. By All means, experience the Experience Of Space.

  • Subtly engrossing....
    author: Dara

In terms of style, I'd say it passes fluidly through several styles revered by renowned artists but stays sublimely unique amongst the sometimes chaotic and tormented timbres of harmonious analogue soundings pads, drones, human vocals, guitar tones and world percussion. Some of those artists who spring to mind are: The Orb, Boards of Canada, Pink Floyd and Kruder/Dorfmeister. A very relaxing and also aurally invigorating experience. Well worth the measly price of a CD =)

  • This cd transports you.....
    author: Mary Hawkins

Listening to this cd brings up an array of emotions and transports the listener to other worlds. I especially love Mea Culpa and Vesuvio. It would be a great addition to any collection.
