notes
So. Cal. roots rocker Dale Peterson has done it again!
Honoring his roots, he has put together a new release under a new label.
Dale Peterson's "BANDERA" is a tribute to his late father James "Harry" Peterson. Harry was a respected C&W steel guitarist and songwriter who worked with the likes of George Jones, Ernest Tubb and SLim Whitman in the early days of the post W.W. II country music boom.
Dale has put together a recording of fifteen classic honky-tonk tunes that includes one song by his father. He was truly looking to produce a release that captured the authenticity of classic honky-tonk, which has been a work in progress for over a year.
"BANDERA" is the first of two planned releases dedicated to the life and music of Harry Peterson. A blues CD as well a CD of all original songs are in the planning stages.
It all started in 1988 at Al's Bar in Downtown L.A.. Dale Peterson & The Lords of Rhythm mixed blues, rockabilly and country with the East L.A. sounds Dale grew up with. The Rhythm Lords went on to record several releases on the Rebecca Records label: a three-song demo in 1990, a six-song EP "Evil" in 1992, "Happy Hour" in 1994, "Lone Wolf" in 1996. Dale's solo debut "Full Circle" was released in 1999 which consisted of eleven roots rock originals.

I'm not a country music kind of guy, but when I gave this cd a listen I understood the difference between country music and honky tonk, this is HONKY TONK and some pretty good stuff. It rocks and swings, it changed my mind!
GOOD OL' ROADHOUSE MUSIC
author: jonacoLike good ol' roadhouse rockabilly songs? Dale Peterson does. He's been doing the best of Hank, Merle, Webb and Tennessee Ernie around L.A. for years, and so did his dad. Miss fiddles, steel and twang? It's all here behind Dale's ragged-but-right vocal and guitar. You'll probably know all these honky-tonk classics: "Jambalaya", "Hello Walls", and some of my favorites- "Crazy Arms", "Six Days on the Road" and "Walk On By" (Leroy Van Dyke). This isn't the most polished sound, but it doesn't try to be. Take a ride back to the golden era of the Grand Ole Opry and raw, real rockabilly-country with this rootsy set. Keep on truckin' Dale!
